Dismissing O'Grady as simply a drug cheat is entirely overly simplistic.
And there is an appetite out there to hear more about the underbelly of cycling. And I'm sure (just like Voigt) he's got an entertaining story or 2 to tell.

Nice ride this morning.
If there's an interest in a Friday the 2nd spin, I'd be keen to turn the legs over. I'm probably the least suitable person to lead a ride though - just throwing it out there.
Eastern suburb hills, LaPa, that sort of thing. 25s pace is more my threshold

Keep in mind there's nothing carved in stone saying one must turn at Waterfall. Sutho or Captain Cook Bridge are equally valid. And this will make these rides feel safer and thus more accessible to all. I do agree that it will probably make riding the area more awkward outside those times (at least ...

Re: Sunday's Accident
Thanks Greg. I'm having discussions with a couple of other Club Presidents about this proposal and the feasibility. It could be a goer. We do need to work out what to do in places where there are parked cars - eg Kingsway (way up) and Sandringham Street at Sans Souci (way back) I'd suggest they bec...

Sunday's Accident
Must admit I was entirely on edge until I heard it wasn't DHBC and all the cyclists escaped with their lives. Still doesn't make the crash less ugly though. The crap on social media I the aftermath was damn near as ugly as the accident. I did though see on idea floated among the rage that is well wo...

Re: What should we do with the recumbent?
So I today met a guy in one of my therapy groups who has a disturbingly familiar tale. He came off his bike in June (admittedly a mountain bike not roadie), landed heavily face first, spent a couple of weeks in a coma, and is slowly fighting his way back. He's a Czech lad. Nice bloke, probably mid 3...

Decent cheap knicks
Seems like my Cell Knicks have not aged well in the draw, and before I reappear on the odd ride I probably should reload. Seems like cell have gotten out of the knock business though. Can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful brand/source? I know there are options aplenty (DHBs) at Wiggle in 60-70 b...

Re: What should we do with the recumbent?
If people are keen to look at options beyond Ryde Rehab apparently the Ceberbral Palsy appliance https://www.cerebralpalsy.org.au/ and Minimbah (http://minimbah.org.au/) were suggested alternatives. I've not made contact with them however. Only other thing that came to my mind is perhaps we could lo...

Anyone got a ladies flat bar roadie that Sue could try??
Sue (the better half) was keen to perhaps give slowies a whirl. Does anyone happen to have a ladies flat bar Roadie Sue might be able to borrow for a slowies mission? She's only got the one bike, and she feels it's probably a little cruisey, even for slowies. http://www.cellbikes.com.au/CELL-Syren-R...

Re: Tour Down Under 2014 - What goes on Tour Stays on Tour
My 2 cents: *One of the best single sporting events I've ever been to (and I've been to a few, just quietly). Great atmosphere among the spectators (plenty of friendly banter and chat), but also amazing access to the riders and course. People were still riding Willunga 15 mins before the pros came t...

Re: What should we do with the recumbent?
FWIW the guys at Ryde have advised they would certainly get plenty of milage out of another trike for both programs on site and off site (which isn't an option at the moment as demand is too high). I made it clear we were still looking at a range of options, so nothing is confirmed or locked in, but...

Re: What should we do with the recumbent?
find out if it's true that recumbent lower aero profile + the way the body is aligned transmits more power and hence whips traditional bikes in the speed stakes. Let's do this for science. My 2 cents on such things. Don't expect miracles. Best time I could manage on the Trike round CP was 9.15 acco...

Re: What should we do with the recumbent?
More than happy to facilitate a velodrome/CP/hill climb shoot out, albeit I'm not road legal (by car or bike) so I'll still need a hand to get the trike to venue X. And I'm away this weekend. There isn't much to riding one of these trikes, so it lends itself to something such as this. Being down low...

Just thought I'd add a couple of things. *Having joined the recumbent set, I've learnt a bit about them. The 2nd hand market is indeed mall though seemingly rather fluid. There's a paucity of good offerings on the market, and a Catrike is a rather highly regarded species. Near new, and well maintain...

Hey Guys
Just a quick note to let everyone know I returned to 2 wheels yesterday. Just a 6 km chug along the Cooks River on a mates mountain bike rather than a roadie, but it was a bloody nice step on the way back.
Cheers

I'm not keen on seeing fields of clones, but I do like the idea that we all start from roughly the same place and have roughly the same potentialBut that suggests that you think we were all born equal. That would be boring!
