recommendation - do not wear carbon soled shoes for 174kms of fixie action

The exact chain checker tool was used on my chain by Mr Bundy and it indicated the chain was well out of the required parameters to be functional. This has been a very good thread, thanks for the input, the upshot is that regular cleaning of a chain is required to maintain chain and cassette life - ...

You mean 3000km per chain right? As long as you replace your chain when you should, the cassette should last quite a while.
Not sure :? - i may have the metric back to front. 3000 kms a cassette would mean 20 weeks of riding = a new cassette

I think there is a genetic component to it. Look at our top finishers - Matt, Christian and James. They're all classic endurance build. It was odd at one stage as we C, had ovetaken D on the straight, then a splinter group of D overtook C, then we overtook D again. At one stage B, C & D was on the straight at once :wink: C's av speed I thought ok - C was ovetaken by B once, it was however a relatively windless day.

I would like to fit x 2 chain tensioners on the frame so it can pull back the wheel evenly for a good chain tension - just can't seem to get a good go at tightening the wheel whilst maintaining chain tension :roll:

I used to watch it a couple of years ago (when it was on on Saturdays), but it's too hard to remember to watch during the week.
Yeah, I must admit I catch it randomly flicking channels - I've never seen a Presenter, (David Olle), smile as much as he does whilst doing the segments

I hear that average speeds were;
C grade 37.7
B grade 39.6

I trying to find out who took the photos
I had 38.6 kmph in C grade post race & had been resting for a few minutes before checking, I think Mark L has much the same

Agree - great cycling event vibe. Fast / hairy course due to parked cars, idling unoccupied trucks. Loved the hairpin turns then power down via carbon soles - very good outcome.
5th C grade, was boxed in and couldn't wind it up... Won $10 = cost neutral racing. :D
