It was a pretty good weekend with not too many injuries. We rode 24 laps in just over 23 hours, John rode 7, Huw 6, Lindsay 5 and 6 by myself. The distance is 342km. As Simon said, the first 9km or so of the red loop was all about climbing, but the descent made it all worth while, which is where I a...

The race map is now available at http://www.corc24hour.com.au/images/final%202008%20scott%2024hr%20course%20map.pdf The red lap is 13.3km the blue 15.3km. My grand plan of camping in the corner of the section I was talking about last night may not happen. The gates open at 830 on Friday morning and ...

CORC 24Hr

Its almost here, the race is on the 11/12th of October which is less then 2 weeks away. For all those involved we need to work out the logistics ans what to take so we don't end up with two of everything at the camp site. I will be going down on the Friday just so I don't have to get up really early...

Simon was beaten by a girl.

I was pretty happy with my second place, there was no way I was going to be able to beat Nosh in that race, it didn't even look like he was trying and I was starting to hurt.

I was two bikes behind Mick, I saw it happen and managed to get around, it all seemed to happen very fast. Glad to hear you're ok Mick. So far I think there has only been crashes in Div 3 luckily I haven't been involved in any of them.

First check the stop screws, if the high stop screw is in too far then the derailleur won't be able to move far enough over. Its conceivable that the screw has worked its way in from vibration. If that doesn't fix it check the cable pull. You can check this by pulling on the cable where it runs down...

I'm not sure of the order for 15 in the points score. Thats the lap where I didn't realise it was a sprint, so I just sat on the back. My Kilo time is missing as well, although I don't think it was anything to write home about 1.24 or something close to that. I'm quite inpressed by me 3km pursuit ti...

The Basta rollers are going to be at DGV this Friday night, so if you're coming to RAW track, you can see them then, and possibly get to ride on them. I've been told the drums are around 90mm, the test drive will let you know what they are really like.

Its a different license, but a day license is costs $15 which covers the event. So for a 4 person team your looking at $135 each (inc license). Its a bit pricey once you factor in transport etc. Accommodation is free as its camping.

CORC 24hr mountain bike race

Anyone interested in riding a 24hr mountain bike race? Its on 11/12 October. I'd be looking at a 4 person team. If I get no takers for a DHBC team then I have another team I can ride on.

I have seen Geoffs, they are Minoura Action rollers. My one issue with Minouras is the plastic end caps, for the amount they are meant to retail at (around $420) you would think they would be metal. The plastic end caps come away from the drum, just look at the clubs rollers and compare the ones wit...

Rollers

I have been looking at getting some rollers, as have some others in the club. We may be able to get a bulk deal if we buy enough. I now have some information on the Basta rollers, still waiting for confirmation on the drum diameter. One thing to note is that they have metal end caps, not plastic lik...

The difference in stiffness between 7005 and 6061 is very small, with 6061 having a modulus 10, 7005 having 10.4. 6061 is much easier to weld. 7005 has a higher tensile strength then 6061.

It says it has geometry similar to a road bike, so it won't be as steep as a track bike. It also has 110 BCD cranks, which I think is what they use on BMXs. I'd say for that amount of money you try and get an Avanti pista or look for something second hand.

I can bring down my chain rings as well, they are 144bcd. I'm using the 49, but may use the 48, I haven't decided yet. You're welcome to use the 50, if you have a 15t cog that'll get you a 90" gear, or the other one I'm not using. If multiple people bring chain rings you shouldn't have too much...

I would really recommend suspension forks, it just makes the whole experience a lot more comfortable and adds about a six pack to your confidence. You can get forks that have a lock-out for when you are riding on hard surfaces or climbing, this reduces pedal induced bob. The Oaks fire trail is consi...
