Hi Guys,

I'll hopefully be arriving about 5pm & hopefully I'll get myself a premium camping spot... If so I'll be camping somewhere in front of the pub (now that's a plan...). Look for a small white van & you'll find me. Dinner about 7pm would be good if anyone's interested.

Re: Dirtworks

Interesting point with my new SS. Oh & btw I have Toff to thank for the frame/forks. The forks look like rather low spec Rock Shocks however they did the job quite well. I think they'd be 80mm travel. They made a bit of a clunk when the front wheel got airborne however they never bottomed out. I...

Re: Dirtworks

Yesterday's event went nowhere in explaining the biggest mystery in my cycling life. How is it that I can't beat my single speed fully rigid time from 2008. Last year plush duelie => longer... This year better single speed with front shocks => longer... How I finished in 2008 is baffling enough but ...

Re: Accidents

Hi Everyone,
I managed to get an arm-warmer over my broken wrist.
This was an old injury I'm referring to in about 2002 & is all healed up. My fall in Saturday has left me with only sore ribs. They are however mighty sore I can tell you. Bruise is starting to come out.

Cheers,

Lindsay

Re: Accidents

I had a stack yesterday...however I wasn't on a bike, I was in a boat. The worst part is we'd just finished racing and we were tied up to a jetty. I went downstairs and somehow lost my balance and went ribcage first into the keel box. I didn't even get my arm up to slow the fall. Today I am very sor...

Gi I think the Tweed rides are about trying to capture the old fashions of cycling past. Who ever said "come in sluggo's" would be leading you astray I would think. Sounds like a fun event, I might tweed up myself some day.

Tour of the West

This flyer was given to me from an old cyclist, it's from a race held in 1951. It looks like a good touring route?? Any takers for a winter tour? I've never done a five day professional jubilee cycling marathon before. I notice that leading citizens are involved of all towns en route. Perhaps they'd...

Re: New bike!

I would advise against getting it painted. Here's my 00.02c worth. You'll find that there has been a heat treating process in the production of your frame and the coating (pink paint) and heat treatment will be matched to the alloy to produce a final result. The coating plus final stage heat treatme...

My legs are hurting already, and I'm too scared to check the elevation profile. Which makes me ask the question - if you blow up on tour (like injury wise) what are the options for getting out of there? This is a good question... If you blow up on tour the first port of safety is the buses (there's...

Hi Jono, it's all about core strength. What you want to avoid is having your upper body weight supported by the palms of your hands. A rider should be lifting their upper body using their abs & if this is not the case then they will have alot of weight bearing down via the hands. This will resul...

Having done LDT (long distance touring) with both flat & drops my preference is for drops. Reasons being -

In a super strong headwind you can hunker down on them to get some aero. You've got more hand positions. When you lay the bike on it's side the drops give a bit of protection.
