Unfortunately this method of winning races won't work for me. I just ran out of steam in the final race and three people went around me, including Mike taking out first place. I wish I could claim the 2nd in the sprint that Simon mentioned, but it was a 4th, really need to work on the sprinting. I'v...

The problem with current hybrids is they are full of lead as they use lead acid batteries. Li-Ion batteries don't seem to be used in current hybrids, they would make the car way too expensive, no one would buy them. The Tesla roadster uses Li-Ion but have you seen the price tag. The other issue with...

The Vittorias are 50g lighter, and I read somewhere that they got to 210 psi, which is 10psi higher then the contis. 50g doesn't sound like much, but it is on the outside of the wheel which is where its going to make the most difference. Although I doubt I'll notice it. The spending never stops......

Track tyres
In gearing up for the purchase of some new wheels I've been looking at tyres. Is it best to have a fully slick tyre or one with a little bit of tread. I'm looking at the Vittoria Pista Evo, which comes in both slick and slightly treaded. Will it make much of a difference? PBK doesn't have many, so I...

I used INOX on one of my shifters, its worth trying, cheaper then a new shifter. I've heard that the SRAM shifters can be rebuilt as well, its just Shimano that can't. Its a pity that Campag and SRAM aren't compatible with Shimano, or each other. So if you want to swap to something thats rebuildable...

This just sounds like its on its way out. Unfortunately Shimano Biffers can't be rebuilt, not even Dura ace. If you got it apart you would never get it back together. I had an old RSX bifter that diaplayed a similar problem, you had to play around with it and you could get it to shift, eventually. I...

I use to have one of my bikes insured through a company that did insurance specific to bikes. You have to be a member of Bicycle NSW or something similar. Can't remember what they were called but a quick search came up with http://www.cyclecover.com.au/ which is who it may have been

Its not broken
Had my wrist re-xrayed today and it turns out its not fractured. Spent 5 days in plaster because they thought it was fractured, better safe then sorry. Just a bad sprain and probably some soft tissue damage, I'll be back on the bike on Monday, it needs another couple of days rest.

Will wool be better then the synthetic material? After all, your jersey is synthetic. The woolen ones look to be embroyded, where as the synthetic ones are printed. The main difference there will be the complexity of the design, printing gives you more flexability. What was the price on the woolen o...

The shirts are second on the list. Depending on the cost we may have to pre-sell some to get the screen masks made. I'm yet to find a screen printer, its on the list of things to do. We should be able to get both men's and women's shirts made. There seems to be enough interest in the hats already so...

I think we should definitely do the hats. It has the smallest outlay. We would be selling them at $15 each, this leaves a little in it for the club. All we need to do is get the design done and send it off. Lead time is 6 - 8 weeks. This of course depends on if we think we can sell 25, which is the ...

Club clothing
Last night at the 100 yr birthday party we were discussing the possibility of getting some club clothing. This could include t-shirts, which would be good for the Saturday Slowies people that don't want to shell out the $100 for a jersey as well as for the rest of us. I was also thinking of hoodies,...

Anyone putting in an order to PBK or wants to order anything so we can spit the shipping. I'm after some tyres, they are out of the GP4000 but they have some Vittoria Diamante Pros for $30.

The track is a bit rough in places, and a bit rocky. Thats the first half anyway. The second half is downhill fire trail which isn't too bad and then some single track, which again isn't too bad. There is a short technical section at the end which you can go around. I think you could do it on a cycl...

Mountain bike ride (good cross training)
Any body interested in coming on a mountain bike ride? Its good cross training, great for bike handling skills. See how the other half rides. I was thinking of the Oaks fire trail in the Blue mountains, its one way, about 26km, I'd say its more then half downhill. Saying that its a cross country rid...

I thought the Waterfall ride was a training ride, thats how I treat it. Saturday is the social ride. For the days when we get a lot of people for Waterfall we could always split into two bunches from the start. On the other hand its good for inexperienced riders to ride with a big bunch to get the e...

Starting track riding
I'm pretty interested in trying my hand at track riding. I went down to Monday night training last week and spoke to Lindsey. Who was most helpful. Lindsey mentioned loaning a bike to give it a go, I'm attempting to round up some road pedals, since I sold my last road bike 8 years ago, still have sh...
