I'm out... Turns out my fork is tapered and not compatible with either of the ones I was going to borrow and my bike is sitting in pieces on the lounge room floor. Not sure racing on a single speed is a good idea.

I'd stay away from Cell. I had many problems with my entry level road bike I bought from them. I went to a few shops to get an idea of what I wanted/could afford. I then went on to Bikeexchange.com.au to see what shops were having a sale. It led me, thankfully, as it was nice and close, to Burwood C...

Thanks Stuart. A great ride. I will admit I only made 3 Gorgeous... As did a couple of others. I won't mention their names in case they would like the wider community to think they did all 4. But we did enjoy sitting at the bus stop on Kissing Point Ride analysing the finer points of council workers...

Also don't underestimate multi disciplined events... You carry fatigue into each leg, regardless of whether it uses different muscles.

I assume going north you will be going the Harbour Bridge? Just keep in mind the triathlon is on and so the bridge is closed and there will be traffic diversions. Shouldn't affect the cycleway but worth knowing.

I am still tossing up which one to do!

I have no scientific knowledge of either, but I know that since starting leg weights about 2 months ago, my ability to climb hills has dramatically increased... I also do upper body but, as a woman, that has only helped me lose weight, thus also assisting me in getting up those pesky hills.

I'd be interested... I'd be up for staying the Friday night but wouldn't make the ride on the Friday. I can also do some accommodation research once we know numbers to give you a hand.

Is the idea to do rides on the Saturday and Sunday? If so, I'd take the shortest option on the Saturday.

I spotted Brownie going north on the Harbour Bridge yesterday afternoon (I was going south). Not quite 'Dulwich Hill' spotted so I don't know if it counts. Though he was on the fixie century...

Of course, I could say he 'spotted' me but it looked more like he was trying to work out who I was.

I have iiNet and it's brilliant. Admittedly we are only a block from the exchange which helps but the iinet technician said it was the fastest connection he had seen. We pay $60 a month. $30 line rental and $30 internet. We also get unlimited phone calls to local numbers and all Australian mobile ph...

I have insurance on my bike as part of my home and contents insurance policy. This is included under 'roaming' items, ie. out of the house. Similar to worn jewellery etc. As you have said I am covered for theft, fire etc. (can bikes burn?!). But I'll be honest, I am not sure I am covered for damage ...

According to the weather report yesterday it only reached 27 degrees in Sydney's West. Certainly didn't feel like that!

And I rode to work this morning and the shoe was still on the Pacific Hwy!
