Re: Vintage night - October 25th

Just got to get hold of a pre-1930s iron horse. That's seriously hard core. Hmm, tricky. I've got 3 bikes from the mid-30's but nothing (rideable) older than 1930.... And you can just bet that the handful of people in Sydney who'll be able to tell my Speedwell Super Club isn't pre-1930 will be at t...

Re: 2012 Flat Tyre Competition

Firming up my position on the podium. I repaired a flat on the way back from West Head a couple of weeks ago. Today I lent Marc a tube after he had his second flat on the rather windy C25/C28/Middies Waterfall ride. So, plus 1.5 points. I'll leave Marc to work out his own points :). Nearly time for ...

Actually, not sure how well it will fit. Can you tell me what the standover is and what the top tube is. My bike is a top tube of 54.8 and a seat tube of 54.
It is 57 cm c-c for seat tube and top tube. The stem is 90mm. Standover is 82cm.

This is all hypothetical if I can't sort out the cranks.

Re: The Red Touring Bicycle Club from Brisbane

"RED BICYCLE TOURING CLUB. The week-end camps are becoming more popular each week, with the result that the number of campers is increasing. Last week-end the members spent most of their time in sunbathing and oyster catching, but judging by remarks heard during the week there will be no more s...

Dulwich Hill Club 1908-1988 book - anybody got a copy?

The book was by Sonia Heathcote and Keith Cohen. The only copy of this I can find is at the National Library - here.

I can't find any copies secondhand. Are there any copies floating around?

Re: A rainbow lorikeet and a vomit free ride

A first for me. All the way to Waterfall with the C25s without getting dropped. (Hence the big grin in the photo)

Curiously I was next to Eleri when the lorikeet incident occurred, but I didn't know what happened until she told me.

And no, it wasn't me who nearly spewed.

Here's an aerial view of the site in 1943, with the outline of part of the track visible: http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xkOAw0ZLSvk/TsIxqr1OrNI/AAAAAAAAAdo/pkszgJHtmH8/s640/Canterbury%252520Velodrome%2525201.jpg Current view. Myself and G at the Tweed Ride. Curiously the Valley Wheeler moustache didn't raise a protest from the commissaires, as opposed to G's budgie smugglers.

Re: State Road Team Time Trial 19/6/11 Entries close Sun 5/6

RESULTS ARE HERE. A great day out for the Valley Wheelers. Our rigorous team training regime consisted of two laps of Centennial Park where I believe we reached speeds in excess of 33km/hr. Then Lindsay’s headset came loose so we had to stop, fortunately for me as I was exhausted. My solo training ...

Re: Part 4 DHBC Criterium Monday 13th June Queen's b'day

Sounds like a plan - have sent pm with my ph number in case of snafu.

Any other takers for the DHBC bike bus?

Andrew
I'd like to tag along. I'll wait at the servo on the corner of GR River Rd and Burwood Rd at 6.50 if that suits?

Re: State Road Team Time Trial 19/6/11 Entries close Sun 5/6

I've checked and it appears that the time trial will start from Eastgrove Park North, down Forbes Street, then left into Bungonia Road. After crossing the freeway this becomes Windellama Road. Continue along Windellama Road until the U-turn at Dewsbury Lane (it's not marked on the map, but presumabl...

Witness's may be required if the moron is stupid enough to contest it.
I'd be happy to give a witness statement.

Apparently "paying taxes" means you don't have to obey the road rules...
