Well I saw some of mark's road rash yesterday and it wasn't pretty. I reckon he'll be feeling pretty sore today.
The skin will grow back though. The badly dented top tube will take longer and be expensive when it gets repaired. Super record levers are fairly well ground down to.

a much simpler solution for those without track type dropouts is to use a half chain link. These are available for both 3/32 and 1/8 chain.
