Re: Groupsets, Is there really that much of a difference?

Dura-Ace doesn't wear quicker than Ultegra/105! I'm guessing it would be the same for Red compared to Force/Rival. Wear really comes down to your maintenance routine. Chainrings are prettymuch all going to be alloy, Dura-Ace cassettes get a few extra Ti cogs compared to ultegra, and chains are prett...

Great fun at the Omnium, even though i was stuck in team KHS. I was stuck with a gearing of 74inches, while Tim on another KHS had 84inches, i think Simon was undergeared too.

Luckily for me the gearing didn't seem to affect too much for both Madisons, just the flying 200 and 2km pursuit.

It's correct apart from your early modifications.

The only issue i see with your route is crossing Old Canterbury Rd, which i don't think is the safest if there's a bit of traffic around.

Jetstar don't give you any extra luggage allowance for bikes, while Virgin gives an extra 5kg. They do have bike boxes, so it's not all bad, just make sure your bike is within the weight allowance and you'll be fine (i hate paying excess luggage when certain others don't have to).

If it didn't need the parts replaced (chainring, etc.) $1000 would be a pretty good price. The Look forks would have saved 100g, so they can be considered an upgrade. You're looking at $120 for a new Dura Ace large chainring, but on the other hand Pedals are included.... so i'd say maybe try for $90...

Tour Of Bright 2010 - Dec 4-5th

The Tour of Bright is one for the climbers (hopefully they can time trial a bit too). This year it's taking place on December 4th and 5th with entries closing November 25th, but with entries capped at 550 they'll probably close earlier. The race consists of 3 stages. Stage 1 is a 100km road stage, w...

Re: Grafton to Inverell 2010 - October 23rd

Garmin data is HERE As for my report.... In D grade the race started fairly slowly with nothing really happening until Gibralter. Unfortunately 3km before the climb i managed to tear a spoke out after my wheel magnet had moved and was hitting the sensor, but after a reasonable wheel change, i fairly...

Re: Who wants to challenge our tempe half hour record?

I reckon i can give it a shot at some point, but probably not until January at the earliest (have to prepare for Bright after Grafton). I'll also need a bigger gear on my track bike, just have to work out which one.....

Just found this http://www.graftontoinverellcycleclassic.com.au/uploads/43259/ufiles/Graf-Invl%20Prfl%202010%20v3.pdf Looks like the feeding zones are different to all the times i've done this race in the past. Previously the first feed was at the bottom of the climb, and the second and third were w...

Re: DHBC Apparel Stock Levels and Purchase Procedure

I'd have to check the stock levels for the small (won't be done before wednesday, but probably not until next week). The track is on Bayview Avenue, Tempe (just accross the river from Tempe station). People that will be able to help you with a jersey purchase should be around between 7 and 8:30pm.

Re: Grafton to Inverell 2010 - October 23rd

It's just like a feeding zone in the tour. You get your feeder to pass you what you want in the feeding zone as you ride past (can stop if you want, but the bunch won't). It's usually best using a bag, unless you're only grabbing one bottle. The race conditions basically mean, no feeding from cars, ...

Still alive, though we didn't make the distance.... I think approx 90 out of 220 or so finished. Supposedly it was some of the hardest conditions in the races history. Waking Saturday morning to 5 degree temperatures and rain wasn't the most promising, but luckily by the start at 7:30 the rain had s...

Re: Shimano Dura-Ace 7850 24CL vs Fulcrum Racing 3's

I'd go with the Dura-Ace wheels or the RS80's. I believe the main difference with the RS80's is they have ultegra level hubs, but a quick search and they seem to be out of stock in most places (can still order them from chainreaction though).

The ride to Katoomba is pretty easy, and back should be extremely easy. I'd suggest finding a hill and riding up it repeatedly for 1hr.

Melbourne to Warrnambool 2010

I thought i'd make a topic for all the news from the Warrnie, taking place 16th October.

For those that don't know, it's a nice 260km race down in Victoria.

This year me and Alex are heading down there to take on the challenge.

Re: Alberto Contador tests positive for clenbuterol

I reckon Fuyu Li could have been hard done by as well, considering the small amounts detected. However, in Contador's case there are the results from his other tests during the tour which could help indicate no usage, as it would take a few days at least for the clenbuterol to leave the body, while ...
