And Alex wants to race vicariously through me, well prepare to be disappointed, perhaps you should do this through Matt.
In that case potholes, cow dung and crashes be damned, I'm packing the race wheels and my game face this year!

Agreed it's a broad concept. I'm familiar with the idea of a 48 hour 'recovery' period in terms of muscle building, but I've never heard of it being applied to a primarily aerobic sport like cycling. What, no Madison? Jan 24th just happens to be the birthday of yours truly, and I've got to say that I'm not inclined to ruin it by being pulverised by the state's best at Dunc Grey. It's going to be a tough enough day as it is given I'm turning 3x where x >=2. I am seriously considering doing the Ma...

At the end of the day, lower grades don't stand a chance over 92km. It's ride, ride, ride, get over taken, join/draft the new bunch, get over taken by A bunch and try to hang on and get dropped at the next hammer down section. That might be generally true, but the whole point of a handicapping syst...

Racing with MWCC at West Head

I've mentioned this race to a couple of folks, and it looks to be confirmed now for this Sunday. See http://www.manlywarringahcc.org.au/page4.php for details. I'm planning on being there and taking the new race wheels for a spin. For those that don't know the area this is a very lumpy course without...

So just to clarify this handicap rule. Can lower grade riders jump on a higher passing grade?
Only if you're on the same lap.

I really struggled yesterday. The stage begins with a very slight uphill drag for 26kms during which I was right up the front and feeling fresh. Once we hit the 30km Hotham climb though things got ugly. The climb has three 10km sections: the first and third average 7% or so while the middle section ...

A great day in the saddle today. Stage 1 was a 105km loop taking in two climbs, the 5km Rosewhite Gap and the 8.5km Tawonga Gap, a cat 2 climb. The first 50km or so was pretty flat and we had the odd chance to take in the view. Approaching the first climb though things got nervous as everyone went t...

What about deep rim Reynolds? They have great reputation. Too expensive. I'm sure I could shop around for a better deal than RRP but I don't have the time. Broken Spokes

As some of you might be aware, I've broken a few spokes this year. Sunday's was just the latest in a series of broken spokes across 3 wheelsets. Although it wasn't the most ill-timed (that award goes to the spoke I broke just before the Garie Beach turnoff in RNP a month ago which left me hitching h...

Grande Pde were less attacks, more just winding up the pace continually until the bunch was completely strung out.
Let's not forget the Bestic Street sprint! I can't really remember how we used to manage that one as there's always parked cars or traffic thereabouts these days.

Tour of Bright 5-6 December

Rightio, who's keen for this -> http://www.tourofbright.com.au/index.php? I know I am. Racing in Victoria will give me a whole new state to have a flat, break a spoke or drop a chain in.

I note that entries are limited to 550 so it makes sense to get in earlier rather than later.
