Can you swap out the 50 on a 50/34 compact and make it a 52/34? Is this too big a jump for the FD?

Alternatively for a ride like the Alpine 250 could you swap out the 34 to make a 50/30?

I am looking to get a set of rollers to train over winter.

Are they all the same? Any recommendations?

Re: Race Weight

Starting Weight - 79.8
Week 1 - 78.0
Week 2 - 77.8

Not much of an improvement compared to the first week but was ill for most of the time 'coughing up buckets' so no riding as well.

So far 2 weeks of no booze and crap food = 2 kilos

Damn I want a pizza washed down with beer.

I am trying to eat fish at least 3 meals a week, avoid the temptation for 2nds and steering clear of the vino. The other strategy to cut out the unnecessary calories is to always bring in my lunch. Unfortunately with Simone away I can't do nearly as much exercise as I would like. How hard are rollers?

That was not meant to read as Thai curries cooked in coconut milk, camembert and fois gras. That would be a pretty gross combination.

I can see a new event to be added to the DHBC Criterium Championship - The Altar Dash (sounds a bit like balderdash) A true handicap race where the results will be more hotly contested (either on the finish line or in a court of law) than a TDF win by Alberto Contador. Appeals can always be made to ...

I am planning to do the 207km Fitz and probably the ACE250 again in January with Doug - ex DHBC (he moved to Canberra earlier this year)

Simone is planning on doing one of the shorter Fitz's options.

Need the incentive to shed some of the winter excess (and it's not even winter yet)

I too have flippers and I have tried a variety over the years

Specialized - not wide enough
Sidi megas - OK

The best by a country mile so far has been Lake branded shoes. Found a pair in a sale once when in Victoria last year and never looked back.

Seem to be reasonably priced as well.

You are welcome to see the Ortleib bag anytime. Its the same one used by the couriers in the city. Mate of mine is a city bike courier and he recommended them.

Best thing is that is bright yellow and it's totally waterproof. Very useful when caught out with the laptop on the back.

I have a box trailer with racks for 5 bikes on it if anyone needs to transport lots of bikes on the day. Plenty of room for all the gear underneath the bikes.

You just need a towbar.

Dear DHBC Brains Trust + Tim of course

Trouty - one day after a Waterfall ride can Simone sit on your beloved Pinarello and see if she can reach the levers? Won't be for a while, she is off to Europe for a month. Lucky sod.

SRAM Advice

DHBC Brains Trust

How do you tell when SRAM update their groupsets? There never seems to be a year or model referred to on the web. Is SRAM Red 2011 the same as SRAM 2010?

Shimano always has a stated model series e.g. Ultegra 6500, 6600 and most recently 6700.

Thanks
