I have Aw-Ups that flash. It's a bit annoying switching from steady to flash though. I think they are best for seeing in the dark. I have a small Knog that I use as a flashing light. If I was you, I would invest in a rechargeable flashing light rather than upgrade the battery.

1. They will allocate you to a grade. If you are youthful and skinny looking, you are likely to get put in C Grade. Tell them you've never raced before and push to get in D Grade. I've got one that has a flat surface, is hard but with a little give and is a long one. It's good being long because I can lie on it on my back and stretch out my shoulders. The short ones are fine if you only want to roll out a limb or something. I got it from Rebel Sport I think.

2013 on the road (go no idea about the track or what I did on the trainer) 13,857km 176,374m climbed 595 hours that I could have been doing other things like: working, doing another degree, cleaning the house or something. So many highlights of that carnival - it was just great. And nicely capped off by a win in the Madison from Alex and Tom who seemed to come from last to first in the send half of the race. The Christmas Carnivals are lots of fun and the funnest of all is at Tempe on 28th December. It starts on Friday 27th and ends on 31st December and moves around Sydney's velodromes. Thanks to everyone who helped or turned up to watch yesterday. The Junior Carnival was well attended, it turned into a gorgeous afternoon and our event was well planned. Will an iPhone/Android do the job? I know my iPhone has an iStopwatch with a lap function. Surely there will be a volunteer with a smart phone there on the day. I didn't wear club colours last year. I seem to have worn one of my daggier jerseys, mostly because it was touring cut and therefore had more capacious pockets (not much pocket real estate on a XXS race-cut jersey).

Averaged 26kph, rode the 2nd half in a well organised bunch. Just under 7 hours riding time and 8 hours elapsed. We got to Newcastle about 5am and caught a train at about 7:30am I guess.
