It's here.

For us poor time poor buggers who don't have the chance to go somewhere for a ride and then divert back to work on weekdays, I've discovered a good compromise.

Starting at cnr of Margaret St and Kent Street, go down into the back road at Darling Harbour which becomes Hickson St (Hungry Mile).

Circle under the Harbour Bridge taking in the views of the Opera House, and go up through the back of the Rocks past Irishmen in the gutter outside of the Mercentile, then back into Kent Street back to Margaret Street.

Then do it again.

Total of 3.7kms with some easy climbing.

Roads are almost empty and quite wide hugging the Darling Harbour side with cycling lane. Much less traffic than centenial park.

Last 500 metres along Kent Street is a bit narrow with plenty of parked cars and some traffic, so I would probably recommend to do a U Turn at Kent Street at the top of the Rocks and come back the reverse way.

I'm thinking of making it regular at 7.00am starting at Westpac foyer at 275 Kent Street (near Margaret St) probably on Wednesday's to start.

Any interest from city commuters?

That Hickson Rd section is part of my regular Sat morning ride. It's very pleasant. But I would think by 7am, that section has already got busy with all the wharf activities as well as all the early car parkers.

The other nice loop to consider is that Pirrama Rd that goes along the front of the casino and continues as a loop around Pyrmont Point Park. It's dead quiet there and not far from where you are. IIRC, it was part of that Spring Cycles route last year.
Thanks Weiyun. I might try that too. First thing is to see if I can get some training at the Hungry Mile.

It was surprisingly quite at 7.30 this morning. Not much traffic at all.

Ian, I was wondering how long it would take before you were 'baited'. Well spotted.

Of course you only need to go for a 10 minute ride and you are in the Adelaide Hills! - Right?

Hope all is well with Louise and everything is progressing on plan.

Yep 10 minutes to the hills Geoff and 45 minutes to get to the top of Mount Lofty. Hard auld slog when you're not all that fit.

And as for Corkscrew Hill, Mikesbytes - what a b*stard of a hill that is!! I avoid it most of the time I have to admit.
