Race report - Heffon Park – 11 August

We had a good turn up at Heffron today. We had Michael McKennedy in E grade and Frank (Father Frank?) and myself in D. I’m not sure if there were any other DHBC riders in B or C but I didn’t see any jerseys at the line up. Maybe Rob may have been in amongst it. In E grade, Micheal came 2nd. I didn’t see the race (for obvious reasons) but I believe that it came down to a sprint finish. We'll done Michael! In D grade I finished 2nd and Frank came 4th. There was a strong rider (returning from injury) who won the race. He lead the first 4 laps without anyone doing a turn at the front (this seems to happen too much in D grade). Anyway, he eventually broke away at lap 4 and I was the only one who chased him. From there we worked together to gain a comfortable lead. As seems to be my fate, I didn’t have the legs to win the sprint but I've been bumped into C grade anyway. The average speed was 34.7km/h.

Great result Adrian and all. How much up on the bunch did you guys manage to pull with the breakaway?
