The adjustors don't work on the beast's brakes which means to adjust them, I need to retention the cable by unbolting and rebolting it.

Hard to justify any significant investment in the beast, but these come close $35 + $9 postage.

Is it a $44 investment or a waste of money?

Does it have the necessary reach for an older re-spaced steel frame? Otherwise lower grade Tektros can be quite spongy in their feel.

I think the reach is OK, but will need to measure.

If they are spongy then I'm probably better off trying to source some adjustors for the existing crap brakes

If you're ordering them let me know, I'm thinking about getting one of those bike stands T7 has on special at the moment...

Undecided, am I just trading one limitation for another? And can I justify that much expenditure on the Beast ?

You just need a reliable and safe beast. Right?

Nah, won't get the brakes, don't want spongy.

Where can I get new cable adjusters?

I put the Tekro R556 on my singlespeed. It is an old Apollo frame and the reach I needed was huge.

The brakes work a treat. A bit spongy, but with good pads they work just fine. Highly recommended. Certainly better than running old brakes.
