Just curious if anyone is doing this ride ?

I could be a starter for this ride

And there's no way it could rain like last year.

I'm in again this year, and I plan not to injure myself this Christmas so I can ride

Best way to get to the train is to ride back to Kiama - not up the "hill that will not be mentioned" to Albion Park.

OK - I'm in this too. I thought we needed to practice riding up hills before the Alpine Classic (or is the hill that cannot be mentioned too vicious?)

'That hill' isn't actually part of the ride... unless you want to take a shortcut back to the train station

Correction - Jo & I are both registered. I love the idea of a ride that ends at a pub. Still would like a bus - maybe I dreamed they were talking about one

I'd say all the DHBCer's would meet at the usual place and ride out to the start together at a nice C28 pace (please). We can pick you up on the way Hung if you like.

A few of us have entered including Eleri, Camilla, Stu, Myself, Hung, Pete (3rd St). Some are riding home (Crazy people like Lacey and Amy), but I guess the majority will train it home.

Will register this week, it a great ride and the the word is "NO RAIN" Yeaah.

shall all riders going into the JWJC leave at say 6.20am from MM and take it easy out to loftus to save your legs for the RNP .

It's about 28kms from MM to Loftus and therefore takes 1 hour to get there according to the last trip I did anyway. Presumably we want to get there a bit before the start?

I'll be leaving from MM at 6:00 I'd say as I need to ride slower than 28kph avg. Like at about 23 avg to save my legs. So if anybody else slow wants to ride to the start then is that an OK time? If no other slow riders, I'll get the train from Sydenham to Loftus at 6:15 arriving at 6:53

I'll ride with you Stuart. 6am at MM is fine and we won't be rushed and will be there in plenty of time to take the obligatory start photo, fill up our water bottles etc.

The light drizzle and over cast conditions made for a very

As last years ride was ordinary for weather conditions to say the least, an early train ride home along the way is always an option. I'm hoping the forecast is wrong!

I rode this morning it wasn't raining but the roads was wet
and was NOT nice at all

I'm still thinking it's a 6am start and that, as no-one is actually organising it, that people will turn up, or they won't. Unless it's actually raining in the morning, I'm planning to go.

The weather report seems to be slightly better than it looked a couple of days ago or even this morning. Annoyingly, the wind prediction has moved from "northeast" which was good to "southeast" which is less good.

Barring thunder and lightening I'll be at MM at 6. Gale force winds might put me off too. Maybe flooding. But on the whole I'm choosing to take a positive outlook on a little foul weather and consider it a good bonding exercise. Some of my most memorable rides have been in the rain.

Well this was an epic ride and one I would like to do next year. Congrats to thr organizers who did a great job with minimal fuss. Signage along the way was superb.

We started out in the pooring rain which was unpleasant when the rain and wheel flick sprayed heavily into our faces. At Loftus we met the ride start. All up we had a few riders. Ron, Hung Andre and Michelle, Camilla and Colin. We didn't know about Ron until we passed him south of Wollongong.

The rain stopped and stayed that way for the rest of the day but remained overcast which was good.

Going thru RNP is just magical. And I loved the escarpement. So pretty. We stopped for coffee at a high school friends cafe in Austinmer which was great then headed into Wollongong. I went into central wollongong for the first time in my life. Then we headed out past port kembla again for my fiirst time. We were powering down at this stage at about 38 kms per hour with Camilla , me,Colin and andre in a peleton. It was fast.

Nearer to kiama we headed across a small rural road into Jamberoo.
