There are many crazy riders in the club. This thread is to give them the respek for their craziness.

Let me start with crazy James, for wot he was riding today morning. Any comments?

Wot? No comments? Come on guys! Didn't you drop your jaw when you saw him riding that thing? We gotta give recognition to James for his spirit?

Actually, I want to say thanks to the Saturday Slowies for putting up with me yesterday, especially Geoff who stayed with me on the way back. I could keep up on the flats and uphills, but downhills are the bane of Unicycles.

I am going to look at putting on shorter cranks, and that will hopefully give me a speed boost.

I have no idea how far I rode yesterday, but I did a lap of Centennial, then two hill loops, and then finished that lap plus one more.

And, once I got to Centennial, I only got off when we regrouped. I am actually looking forward to Spring Cycle on that this year.

Oh..

You may also see me a few more times, I am thinking about bringing that out once every couple of months for a spin with the slowies...

As if 40km on a bloody unicycle in Spring cycling event wasn't enough, he went for a further 10km ride and then had a unicycle hockey match at the Sydney Olympic Park. James did it again! One hell of a crazy guy!!

I worked out the rough distance from Map My Ride today. I think that it was only about 85km, even so, the longest distance in one day that I have done on that. The previous best was only about 50km.

For those who were interested, it is a 36" wheel with 125mm cranks. After riding it, and then jumping on the 20" for hockey was an interesting experience. The Coker (36" wheeled Unicycle, named after the company that makes the tyre), has a lot of inertia, so it is slow to respond to the pressure on the cranks, where as the 20" turns at nothing, so I was very jerky when I first got on the 20".

There were 4 unicycles that I am aware of who rode from North Sydney, but I think that I was the only one who did the full 50km. 2 of the guys I know from Hockey, they were also on 36 inch'ers, and the other guy was on a 29".

My legs are feeling the effects of the riding today, a bit stiff, but strangely enough, not when I am on the bike. Unicycling is more akin to running than cycling.
