One advantage of road bikes, kids usually don't want them.

There are still people who will nick anything that isn't nailed down, but it wouldn't surprise me if you left a good road bike (i.e. $3,000 +) and a Huffy next to each other, the Huffy would vanish first, as that is what the kids see as "cool" to ride.

I have heard of someone's house being broken into, the TV, Stereo etc all going, but the $7,000 road bike wasn't taken.

This happened me when living in Hurlstone Park. They robbed amongst other things a $50 DVD player but left my bike, God bless 'em !

I have AMAZING news to report. My bike has been returned to my local church and I am picking it up this afternoon. I'm jumping for joy and will definately be more careful from now on !!!!

Great stuff stephiej.

Hey why don't you come for a ride with Dulwich Hill. They have a ride called Saturday Slowies that leaves from Mick Mazza's bike shop down at Marrickville shops at 6.30am on Saturday mornings, riding at the slowest riders pace. It's a nice way to meet some of the local riders. Afterwards they hit the coffee shop.
