Hi All,

Has any one done the Lady Carrington Drive through RNP? Is it do-able on a road bike? I have a vague recollection of the "Steel is Real" crew doing it some years back.
I assume some heavier tyres would be needed, but curious to know if it's feasible and if so is there any interest in giving it a go? I'd like to show my CX bike a little dirt, without the
ignominy of getting my butt whopped in a real CX event.

Philip

I've run it... I wouldn't do it on a road bike but that's just me. It's a Firefly after all.

Very gravelly though there are no real hills to speak of that I remember.

Great on a MTB though so would imagine a CX bike would fare OK.

No problems on a cyclocross bike I'd say. You could do it on any bike at a pinch, but it's a dirt road, so muddy in spots - especially after rain - and bumpy rough in other stretches. Also lots of smoothish stretches. It runs downhill towards Audley. John

Yes, doable on a roadbike.
Bumpy and there were about 3 (probably pinch) flats the last time round. (from Audley south towards Lady Wakehurst Drive)

So smarter on a CX bike with wider tires inflated correctly or running tubeless.

I knew you'd have a crack Peter,

Perhaps this Sunday? If we ride the Como route to Sutherland we'll miss the gong gang. Enter at Audley, maybe a there and back or do the return through the RNP still missing the Gong gang. Maybe coffee at Audley weir and home again, or Bundeena and a ferry. So many choices.

Yes the Valley wheelers did lady carrington back in 2012, I think. Doable on a roadie, but just. If you like you road bike, I'd advise u not to use it. If you don't mind trashing it around, go ahead. The wheels will suffer to a certain degree. I think I broke a couple of spokes the following week.
Cyclo cross would be perfect.
