Best value aero helmets - seeking suggestions

I am in the market for an aero helmet.
Not that keen on the old skool, long tailed ones, as I am a novice and not use to holding my head in a steady position. Tipping the tail up into the wind is counter productive, I am told.
Keen on a short-tailed helmet, something like a Kask Bambino or similar in style. However not keen to speed too much as I only plan to use it once or twice a year. I know the Giant Rivet TT (a short tail styled helmet) sells for around $229. However it has no visor. Does this make an aero difference?
Are there any other options I have overlooked?
Thanks
marc

Hi Marc,
There's this test from bike radar. All of them are non-pointy hat ones:

Specialized have some neat videos too:
Non aero vs. aero vs. pointy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTiyl79dTsg
Also on eyewear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-pfjsn ... 7t&index=6 (which might go some of the way to explaining if a visor makes a difference).
As for comfort I guess other people who own them might be able to add something on that.
Cheers,
Tim.

I looked into this about a year ago and went with the bontrager ballista. A few reasons- it's relatively cheap in comparison to other aero helmets. It got good reviews and aero testing stats. I wanted road aero as opposed to the full spermie as my purpose was 180km tts- full spermies can get very hot but would be ok for 40km tts. I move around a bit as well over the longer and I think the full sperm helmets added aero can be negated by this. I was also looking at the giro but every triathlon I do I see a few visors from the giro or the kask on the side of the road and I saw some testing that said they don't make a difference( they do look cool though). Finally Will Kirkham has one and I know he'd have done his research! I don't know how much difference they actually make but I reckon there's some placebo to wearing one and feeling fast anyway. They were a bit hard to get hold of last year but hopefully they're in stock now?
