OK, Yesterday morning while riding to Renegade, I hit a pot hole in the dark at about 40-45km/hr, instant pinch flat, as well as a major dent in the rim which is now a write off.

So put in the spare, inflating it, and that went off like a gunshot, turns out there was a major hole in the tyre as well. So from what I understand, that is only 1/2 a point extra for me. Mind you, I feel ripped off as it wasn't bad changing, it was bad luck with the hole in the tyre.

Flat on the way to work yesterday, replaced the tube, inflated it, but it went down not much further up the road, another faulty tube that is now a write off. Had to finish the way to to work on foot, so a blister on each heel. Plus I also found that my front light wasn't working.

Not a good way to start the day or the week.

Two flats on my fixie because of glass shards in two days. I am either really unlucky or my tyres are really crap. The flat yesterday involved a small piece of glass AND to make life really painful I had forgotten to transfer my saddle bag from my roadie - doh! I managed a combination of walking/rolling home thanks to a piece of sticky tape and some perserverence. Changed it in the comfort of my bedroom last night.

A big chunk got lodged in my rear tyre on the way to work this morning leaving a sizeable gash. I was alredy running late too. I had a tube this time and also an audience of a couple of guys who thought they would stop and watch me change it (and they didn't even offer to help - not that I would have accepted it).

Hey you took my 4th place. Now I'm bound to get a bunch of flats

What tyres do you have on the fixie?

Hehe well it's your gender specific points system that is allowing me to over take you :p

I have some kind of Kenda tyres on the fixie. They were on it when I got it off Bundy. I was going to wait til they wear down to replace them, but now I'm not so sure. I was hoping to bling the bike up with some coloured tyres if I can find some cheapies that are reliable.

Bullshit....

Flatted on the way home last night (hit something and pinch flatted), and then flatted on the way in again this morning.

The puncture gods are exacting their revenge for me showing another class of people how to change a tyre and patch a tube.

My interest now is, can I preserve my 2009 puncture to 1? Projected total mileage for this year should be just a tad higher than last year (6 flats).

Blast

Another flat on the way home last night, that totals 3 flats in 3 trips (30km). Luckily I didn't flat this morning on the way in.

Flatted on the Cooks River cyclepath, of all places. Made sure my riding companion (Dad) did not so much as lay a finger on things to ensure my point!
Also got a flat on the Shadow Bike towing my 7 year old. I'm claiming that, too.

Seriously bad day ridiong, out with randwick, two flats, and a rip in tyre to some extent, but i checked the point system, and the fact that i did 10km between flats makes it another point, after that i put a 5 buck note in there, learnt that off Mark i think. I also get half a point for lending a lad at the track a tube :D so im off the half thing :D

Flat on the fixie on Tuesday - discovered when leaving work. Slow leak, not really sure what caused it. Think I better change those tyres before the fixie century.

Got home from the weekend in Canberra to find another flat on my fixie - a chunk of glass that must have worked its way in on Thursday evening but I didn't notice then. Tyres getting changed this week, I've had enough of changing flats.

+1 (1/2 point)

I rode my road bike into work, ie the one that I was racing the criterion in the afternoon and I got a flat, pulled it out and examined it and it was a pinch flat, but I hadn't hit anything, so it must of been there for a while, last time I rode the bike was at the Southern Cross Cup, about 3 weeks ago and I didn't hit anything there either.

However it didn't stop there, the spare had a hole in it (split near valve), which I discovered before I put it on and I had no patches. End result was I had to walk from Chippendale into the CBD. At lunchtime I caught the train home, put a new tyre and tube on and drove out to Landsdowne for the crit.

It could of been worse, I could of had the flat during the race.

+1 (1/2 point) on the fixie on the way home. Couldn't be bothered fixing it so I walked from Sydenham

So that makes me only 116 points behind James C

I just worked out who gave James C the bonus 100 points. That's what happens if your got too many L's in your surname.

It's been a while, so -100 points for not having had a flat for a while, +1 for getting one on Friday night on the commuter.

Actually, I've heard that not everyone has been reporting all of their flats. Makes it a bit unfair when someone has been reporting theirs and others haven't been...

Trust me! I have been trying very hard to report anything that happens to my tyres but just can't get lucky enough. So I am holding on the one and may just keep it for the remainder of the year. Getting rusty with my tube changing skills.

I don't know why I bother buying new tubes. It seems that as soon as I put one in the tyre, I am changing it within a week. I should save my self the hassle, buy a new tube, and just put a hole in it and patch it.

I've had a thought for next year's flat tyre competition, if the key is to get the least amount of points, then if you lend out tubes then shouldn't you go down half a point? That way the person with the most amount of points gets the wooden spoon?

Every time I look at this thread I am perplexed :?

lol nah the aim is still to get the highest, it makes it not as bad a thing that your sitting in the rain changing a tyre knowingthat it means your one setp closer to the title :D to some extent it seems that who ever does the most road km's gets th most flats (should mark L etc have a few more?!

Yeh, many ways to skin a cat.

The key to making a thread like this a success is to maximise the entertainment value, the actual scoring of points is almost irreverent, a bit like spicks and specks

Found a triangular piece of metal inside the tyre. Still no idea how it got into the tyre. The first two were a rip in the tyre.
