I'm just curious, was this circuit something like Oately ?
The hill is not as steep but 1km long at least. Thus there is approx 12 kms of flatish, slight rises on an open 100kmph country road (thats minus the 1-2 km back down the hill). 14km run x 3 is the race. The hill is perhaps the only similarity with Oatley, it being a fast windy nasty little course with a hill - does that make it clear ?I'm just curious, was this circuit something like Oately ?

So the undulations/hills probably suit me but the wind doesn't.
I'm thinking next year Michael, as your the most similar rider to me out there last Sunday, would you have put me in B grade or C grade ?

Here's a couple of pics that Mark Hales took but couldn't work out how to post! For details on how to post a photo click this link

WOW!!
Thanks for organizing the w/e away Geoff (it's a lovely area to cycle in) and thanks to the Iron Chefs who fed us well at the BBQ.
My win in D grade (first road race) was icing on a great w/e away with fellow cyclists. For the number crunchers I averaged 32.2 kmph with a maximum of 61.5 kmph. I conserved energy on the downhills for the horrid headwinds which blew everyone about and l'm sure Kurnell training helped on the day.
Cheers

For the number crunchers, I thought I would put a good plug in for the E grade. We averaged 29.1km/hr but I cant remember the maximum. Possibly 55km. DHBC definitely controlled the pace of the race and pushed the group to go faster than they would have planned on the 2nd and 3rd laps. Awsome win from Amy and really excellent work from Camilla the Queen of the Hills who spent a lot of time at the front as the super domestique!! Good effort also to Marian on her first race - it is all about having a go. Shame about Bill losing his chain. For the number crunchers I averaged 32.2 kmph with a maximum of 61.5 kmph. I came across this article today even though it was posted about 1 year ago. I was wondering where all the photos went after looking on the Nowra Velo Club site unsuccessfully. They ended up in the local paper.
Its quite a nice article - I remember the 50 knots wind!
