I have contacted CityRail to ask for some sort of solution to the matter of getting stuck at Liverpool station with our bikes. It's not good enough to be stuck there with no way to get to Bowral because they haven't got enough buses.

I'm going to ask for our own bus with room for all our bikes when they call me next week. With a full week's warning I reckon they can sort something out.

I have been given a case number: - 5703010.

It's probably going to mean that we all have to be at Liverpool station at the same time (probably around 12.00).

How many people should I be arranging this for?

I just checked the trackwork and the east hills line is out as well, so you can't even get south using that one.

To get to Liverpool by 12, we need to catch the 11:15am Strathfield Station Platform 8 train.

Good on you Toff. Maybe we should all give Cityrail a call, cite the case number, and tell them how important this ride is to the future of cycling in Australia.

Anthony - I will ride this and stay at Bundanoon on Sat night so if your accom was slotted in for 1 then I'll take it if you want :o

Huw - if you need a lift down from Cbr on Sat please advise - I got your mobile no, but may have it wrong :!:

I will leave my Ute at Bundanoon overnight and catch train bus down to get it on Sunday evening and head back to cbr - unless someone is not riding and wants to drive it back to . is it the German club?

I may have to pull out, I have a suspected broken finger. I don't think riding down Macquarie pass with less braking power then normal is advised.

I am tentative until I find out what is going on with work. I may have to work on Saturday, which means I wouldn't be able to leave for Bundanoon until late Saturday evening. This might not really work with the whole trains not running thing :(

John - sorry to hear about your rib! Hope you are ok and heal up fast. I hear beer has amazing medicinal properties.

So at present it looks as though we will be getting there by catching a train as close as possible & then riding the rest of the way. I'm organising a car so that people can put there lugaggae in it before hopping on the train & thus will only need to ride their bikes. The car can take a person or 2 if needed. So Vic if you need to leave abit later this could be an option?

The other option is that I may be able to line up a van & a ute to take all the bikes if people want to just catch the train & bus all the way???

So who wants what option. Just copy & paste & write your name in.

I will catch the train to the nearest station & ride the rest of the way & need my luggage taken:
1.

I would like my bike transported & I will then catch the train & bus with my luggage:
1.

I am getting myself there, so no assistence is needed:
1. Tim & family
2. Camilla
3. Brownie & family

wouldnt it make sense since there is already a group riding that we all go together?

seems a bit silly to have groups scattered all across sydney riding.

That would depend on Start location. The trains are only running to Liverpool, which is 121k to Bundanoon. If we want to ride 121k then we can do it as a group. Otherwise we need to spread out so to get out bikes on the buses.

Start time is after breakfast which from memeroy is between 7-am but by 8am. Is really dependent on the hotel...

Does that mean you are not planning to stay at the hotel? or coming late?

Cheers Simon.

No, I'm definitely coming. I may have to get divorced and find a new band... but i'm coming...

Going with Mikes group seems the best option at the moment. I just need to find another 85W to keep up.

Mikes ride is not the Train and ride 120kms, it is a bus from Wolli Creek to McCarthur and 96.6k. There is a different group leaving from Liverpool station at 12 midday.

Hey dudes and dudettes. Simon gave me a ring to confirm accommodation today and I was at pains to say I'm not fit to go. My poor preparation (read lack of sleep) before the Scott has left me with a chest infection that has taken hold. I look forward to making it to the next one and hope you all enjoy what sounds like one of the most fun fixie centuries yet!

this is the plan.
There is a Van being driven down which will be able to take bikes/bags. Simon is also taking a car which can also take bikes/bags.
The number of people riding with Mike has been capped at 7 as their is still bus travel involved.
If you want to get the train/bus your bike can go in the Van/Car. if your are riding you can put bags in the Van/Car.
Gear can be dropped off to Simon's place on Saturday morning if you want him to take it in the car.

Here is the bus timetable...http://www.cityrail.info/service_update ... s_Line.pdf

Saturday looks a bit iffy. 45km/h westerly winds! Sunday winds westerly 30km/h to push us toward the coast, moderating and moving south-west after lunch to push us thru the RNP.

I got hold of CityRail today (finally)~!

They have informed me that they have told the coach company to expect a number of people with bicycles to come through in the afternoon. I have been assured that we will be able to get our bikes on the coaches at Liverpool station. They have also told me that there are stand-by coaches which can be called if there are too many people/bikes at Liverpool station at any time. These take 10-15 minutes to come down to the station if there is overflow...

The issue will be that the bikes will be stored underneath the coach in the luggage compartment, so there may be a bit of bouncing around of the bikes under there.

The timetable of buses leaving Liverpool station is here.

There are 2 straight-through coaches going all the way to Bundanoon. One leaves Liverpool at 11.35, arriving at Bundanoon at 2.11pm. The next one leaves Liverpool at 3.35pm arriving at Bundanoon at 6.11pm.

Of course if you want to get off at Bowral and ride the last ~25km then you've got lots more options.

Personally, I will probably be putting my bike in the Van, so I will aim to catch the 11.35 train straight through to Bundanoon (with no bike to worry about.)

I'll do the bike in van option also.

I would like my bike transported & I will then catch the train & bus with my luggage:
1. Lizanne
2. Ian C (Karzie)

What is the name of the hotel we're staying at? I couldn't find it on the postings...
Also, I will try and get the direct to Bundanoon bus option (11:35 Liverpool departure). If the mobiles aren't working, where are we meeting up?

Those riding down on Saturday had a great training ride into a wind

Sunday the wind was in our favor.

Thanks for arranging the weekend, it was a great ride

But where are the photos of you TODAY Chidgey, sans glorious mane?

More than happy to throw a few dollars in for the drivers. Great to have our stuff carted (and, at moments, our persons).

More than happy to contribute to the fuel costs. Kevin is a saint, and after hitting that bit of metal near the 'Gong it was great solace to know there was a back wheel sitting in the van ready to use if need be. Tim/Simon/Kevin can you PM me your address so I can send a cheque?

Lizanne comes up to Hugh's nipples!

Timbo - I'll contribute to Kevin for you, in thanks for my Sydney-Bundanoon trip, for which I remain eternally grateful. No way would I have been able to make it on the Sunday if I'd had to ride into that wind on the Saturday. I'll see Kevin at the track and it seems easier than you posting a cheque etc. Also, I've got your leg warmers. Will walk them over to your pigeon hole but haven't rushed as I know you're away.

I've already given some money to Simon for Petrol. That was for the way down. Let me know if more is needed...

Also, I left two blankies in the car. Probably should get them back at some stage.

Also, great ride. Tough on the body, but oh so good for the soul. There is something hypnotic about riding fixed for hours, that can't be explained in words.

Many thanks to all who made it a great day.

As a fixie hipster myself, I think that it would make a nose-stand quite impractical - or at the very least unintentional.....and it would obscure the view of my spoke cards.

recommendation - do not wear carbon soled shoes for 174kms of fixie action

Macquarie pass was excellent fun on a fixie - only 1 car overtook me

Lindsay is the shaper of fixie fashion, 2 SD ahead of the fashion trend. Lindsay was riding his uber-cool fixie when current generation of hipsters were still sucking dummies.

Some more photos. And next year in addition to the Fixed Century, Lindsay and I reckon we should have a Singlespeed Sojourn. Perhaps a Singlespeed Sojourn to Singleton?
