It was at RAW. It is the opposite collarbone to the one he broke last time. Seemed to be more disappointed then in pain. Tim took him to hospital.

Bike has lost some spokes on the rear wheel but the rest looks ok.

Accident occurred with Dave Stevens. I think Dave was trying to push down into the paceline, but I only caught the end of it. Was on the back straight and they slid a fair way.

Hopefully it's a quick recovery.

The bike looks fine apart from the rear wheel.

Thanks e everybody for the well wishes & bringing my bike home.

It's a bizzare experience to read about the condition of my bike without seeing it! but that fits what I thought happenned. I was sitting at about 5th wheel & there was someone the front who was really determined to slow the race down. first someone else road around him and sped it up. then he somehow got back on the front and slowed it down again, annoying everyone. the second time dave went around him and sped it up dramatically. Dave then swung up and must of just assumed he had split the field when swung down as he didn't see me and at first I think just kind of bounced off but must of lost his balance and I was nearly past him when his bars went though my rear wheel & I went sky bourne landing on my shoulder. My right collar bone poppd on impact & we both slid from the track to the infield.

My body is ok othewise. a few bruises on my hip and thigh. taken the skin off my forearm too. But I'm ok.

cheers Simon.

Damn - bad luck mate. At least it wasn't the other collarbone, or you'd probably really be in trouble. I hope it's one of those breaks which heals reasonably quickly and unproblematically.

Simon, I'm not sure if you have to sleep sitting up, but I have a bed wedge you can borrow if required.

It is similar to this one:
http://www.ilcnsw.asn.au/items/846

Works quiet well (better then stacking pillows), I had to use it for about 2 months.

I got another x-ray on Monday which was much clearer, my collarbone is in 4 peices, the same as last time. I'm now waiting for surgery.

Cheers Simon.

No crash reports? That's not cycling! Just look at the media frenzy over all the crashes in TdF and that's the sport. It's far better to know the risk and manage it, than ignore and face it as a surprise.

Thank you everybody for your well wishes & support! I had suqgery this afternoon which went very well. The doctor spoke to me post op & said i made the right decision as the bones were so displaced they would not have easilly healed. I am very tired but am in very good spirits! My beautiful wife has been very kind & supportive. Thank you all once again.
