The second lot of Cootamundra road opens for the year are coming up in a few weeks. Entries close next weekend (14th).
I believe the course has changed from previous years for the Saturday race, but it's still a nice long 120km handicap. The Sunday recovery race should be the usual 3 laps.
I'll probably be booking accommodation at the Shirley as usual, so let me know if you're heading down and need accommodation.
Cootamundra Road Opens - August 27-28th

I'm out, no racing for 6 weeks
It was great weather for racing in Coota.
Sat 106k handicap, new course.
I was in bunch 8, 2 off limit. We worked well, l started to suffer missed a couple of turns then worked again. I got dropped at 72k, lack of energy/ tired legs. Recovered and jumped onto faster bunch hanging on at 45kph+, eventually dropped and rode with a couple of riders. I cramped with 18 k to go and dropped again. Picked up one rider then another and rolled to the finish still pushing. My time was 3hrs 5mins. This race hurt. My ribs were sore, it hurt to breathe, it hurt to stand, it hurt to sit.
Sun to come. I came 5th:-)

5th !!!!!! well done mate
Thanks guys.
Sun 69k handicap, 3laps. 1 bunch off limit. Our bunch worked well and picked up some riders before catching the limit bunch with half a lap to go. I was feeling ordinary on the 1st lap, a bit better on the 2nd and good on the last lap. With about 2k to go we were informed there was a bunch 400m behind us. From this point it was downhill to the finish line with one hump. Over the hump and l was at the back as the pace picked up again. Around the

Opps.
Around the corner and there was the finish line, about 400m. I thought there were 2 corners before the finish. There was room on the right hand side so l sprinted moving up the bunch. I could see the line and l was in the top 10 and gained a couple of more places. I got 5th:-) with only cms separating 3rd- 5th places. I misjudged the sprint in my legs and reckon l could've gone earlier. Always next time

Race report and photos to come once I'm feeling less lazy. The weekends main action accorded during the fiercely fought game of Upwords.
