Fitz Challenge Canberra Sun Oct 25th
Awesome Katie
Rob Mundell (255km), Adam Ward (255km, I think), Raphael Bicard (210km) and Dave Rankin (255km, I think) are also going, and we're all staying at the Abode Woden as well
Peter Bownes (255km) and Andrew Mattes (not sure what distance) are also going. Not sure where they're staying
I suspect others are going to

Extreme 255 for me.
Having spent the previous 2 years at the delightful Greenleigh Central Motel, I've upgraded to the Statesman Hotel, Curtin.
Should we organize the traditional post ride dinner at the Hungry Buddha?

Ride Report.
210 km. 4040 m vertical.
Too far, too hot, too many hills!
Anyone who's done this knows it is a challenging ride, even the flat bits are hilly.
But it is through beautiful countryside, with splendid support from volunteers,
and I feel, more relaxed and low-key than some of the other sportifs around.
The start was a bit chilly, and for the first hour there was mist in the valleys before the sun was properly up and burnt it off.
A few hours later it was plenty hot enough for the climbs to Honeysuckle Creek and Corin Forest.
But, as always, there was fruit cake and watermelon at the top of the climbs to keep us going.
Not having done sufficient training, this year I was almost two hours slower than last time.
Although the route was harder, with the climb to Corin Forest back on the course.
Near the top of Corin passed a rider pushing his bike, and I was barely going any faster than him.
Finished at 5:50, so full marks to Margo, who waited patiently at the finish after I said I'd be done a bit after 4.
Main aim was to qualify for the ACE 250 in January.
So job done.
Chapeau to all those other DHBC riders I saw along the way, especially those who did the 250.

This remains the toughest ride I've ever done and the score is phil 2 - fitz 1 for the 165 course. Conditions were much better than last year but the course is still unrelenting and unforgiving. Congratulations to everyone who rode on Sunday and hope you're all feeling better today
