My track bike now has a Rolls.

I also have a NOS rare blue rolls. (Light blue, not the more common dark blue) in original box dating from the early nineties. I was saving it up for a resto of the Zullo, but that project seems to have been shelved, so it's available to anyone who wants to make an offer.

Happy birthday Hue.

I'm interested in trying a Rolls. How much are you thinking of selling it for? Pity about the colour - it doesn't match any of the bikes in need.

Rolls saddles are not super comfy, because they are a bit "pointy" in the middle, rather than being flat, but they compensate for this by being quite flexy, so for long rides at high effort they work out well.

PBK sell the standard black ones quite cheaply for around 17 GBP. This is the best price I've seen 'em. Cheaper than ebay. I got my white one from Peter Bundy for a bit more than this, but it is white, and it was much cheaper than other shops were charging. I'll probably offer the blue Rolls as an option when I sell the Zullo in spring.

Well after a bit of digging, I have managed to locate the ultimate bling for my bum whilst riding.

Bonus style points for anyone who can identify it.

You'll need to take some carbon tablets to prevent discolouration.

Here's my wild guess: A super rare NOS limited edition San Marco Regal (white, with 5 rectangular gold rivets instead of the regular 6 round copper ones).

OK, so you gave me a big hint on Sunday! Now, about those bonus points ...

Nice guess Huw: looks like a Regal at the back, BUT... looks kinda like a Turbo at the front. Not a San Marco Rolls. Not even a San Marco.

More clues:
They have not been made since 1987.
Each limited edition saddle has its own serial number printed under resin in the middle rivet at the back.

How about:

A fine-quality Regerbo (rare since all other models were square)?

Or, ... wait for it ...

The super-rare 1985 Turgel (the one without the extensions)?

OK, I suppose it's time for me to stand aside.

hmmm. Is the San Marco Regal the same as the Selle Regal CX?

Never heard of a Selle Regal CX. Do you mean Selle Royal CX?

Indeed I do! Which goes to show how qualified I am to be in this discussion. I just happened to be surfing the web to find a new saddle and came across the Selle Royal CX, made in Italy in the 80's, and like the San Marco Regal it looks like your seat at the back but not at the front.

You have the correct vintage, Camilla. I like the open nose on the CX, which was designed to allow cool air to flow up your ...um... legs whilst riding. There are some nice gold ones too.

last clue:

Saddle takes its name from a very famous cyclist from the late 70s, and early 80s.

The black version of this saddle is the Selle Italia Campionissimo. If this white version has a "Campionissimo" associated with it it would be either Hinault or Moser.

We have a winner! Nice work fixedgear.

I just realised I made a mistake though...

The saddle is a 1987 Selle Italia Campionissimo Fausto Coppi Limited Edition Saddle.

In my haste to poste the next clue, I confused Coppi & Moser in my head. They both start with F...!?!

So I gave Francesco Moser as the clue, when it really should have been Fausto Coppi, who was from the 1940s & 50s.

Missed out again.

Nice saddle.

You would have to clean your saddle more often to aviod the style police.
