DHBC Road Time Trial Team/s for Calga TT
I had actually affixed the transponder. It was just the stupid number. The problem was that we couldn't get registered (and get all the numbers and transponders) until all the team was there, and that didn't happen till 5 minutes before the start of the race. I think the anxiety must have affected my aging bladder.Right on the bang, Ian coasts through, Mike Clements saving the day by stuffing a transponder and racing number into the moving jersey pocket
The results are up. The Masters mens team did much better this year then last year, we came 29th out of 38 teams that finished. This isn't bad due to Mike and myself both being ill and Craig just not having a great day. The Dawdlers came in 38th, which is last, but wasn't this the aim. The Elite team came in 6th, their time is less then twice the Masters time. I think the Masters need to lift their game a bit. The Masters women came in 6th in their category.
Message understood. Next year the Dawdlers have resolved to take nutella sandwiches instead of vegemite, as they have a lower glycaemic index and more energy. The decision about white/brown/wholegrain loaf has been put off till next team meeting to enable some research.I think the Masters need to lift their game a bit.
The masters result was very good considering they were riding with three (as Christian mentioned, I had a shocker, hanging off the back most of the time with only one decent turn on the whole course). There was plenty of horsepower from Mark, Christian was flying up the hills and Mike flying down - all I was doing was acting as the handbrake yelling for everyone to slow down (the pain the pain)! After two shockers for me it's time to have a break or alternatively harden the %^$# up!
Well done to all competitors, it was great to see the bright Dully colours around the course.

After hearing that our average speed was 2.1kph slower than last year, I wasn't expecting us to place where we did. I'm pleasantly surprised at the results, clearly the hillier course had hurt some teams more than it hurt us. As the others have mentioned we had some health and fitness issues to overcome.
It was the first time I've raced on the road with clip-on's and in the quick parts I was thrown around a lot on the bumps. However the aero equipment made a noticeable difference on the downhills, combined with my heavier weight
Master Stats;
1st: 52:25.63
10th: 57:05.34
15th: 58:36.96
20th: 1:00:23.43
29th: 1:02:35.46 (us)
38 teams in results, 4 additional teams time only, we bet 2 of them
Assuming we are on form next year, perhaps we can set the goal posts high and aim for a mid field finish.
