Yep, Jo & I will be there on Sunday from about 13:30. As I understand it from Jo, Sat is Juniors but Sunday will kick ass - it would be great for lots of DHBCer's to get out there and support Ausie track racing. I mean, Anna Meares will be there and she's a World Champion.

Pretty good racing!

For the sprints, it was as expected with Meares & McCulloch racing off for the gold. Meares got up 2-0. Both races were very close and their times through the heats were close to identical. Perkins & Sunderland raced off for the gold in the mens, with Perkins winning 2-1. The fastest lap by memory was Perkins with a 10.4.

Both Keirin's were down to the wire. Meares just got over the line ahead of McCulloch, Perkins got 3rd in the mens. Sunderland was knocked out in the qualifier. There was an acceleration with 1.5 laps to go by an NZ rider (i think), the pack was slow to react and ended up holding on for the win.

As for the rest, the racing was fast and down to the wire on most occasions. The only crash (for those who love a crash) happened on a warm up lap at very low speed on the 42deg banking. No harm done.

SBS was there filming and they had quite a few interviews with the riders as well. It will be shown on Cycling Central next Sunday (16/10).

Yes, a great afternoon out indeed with lots of action. I loved the Keiren's and also watching all the world class sprinters. The Malaysian guy, Ng, who won the Keiren was awesome and a pretty fun guy, judging by interviews.

Here's a report from today's SMH

I took some photo's but they're not that great as I never bothered to get out of my seat. Still here's a link to all of them that are half decent.

...it was a great afternoon of racing to watch. Most of them had huge legs and a decent undercarraige going on!!!! Perko didnt have much left in the Kieren race, after going to 3 with Sunderland in the sprint final. It's great seeing this calibre of racing for $15 when in Melbourne they charge you up to $70.

I thought we would all go hungry but the DHBC crew came prepared with Beer, Turkish Delight, Brownies, nuts, smoked salmon and beef wraps, chips & dips, cheese, olives, bread....oh - and even a cheeseboard from Eleri. Thanks for a great afternoon to the crew who went.

What I learned:
- even really good people end up on the duckboard sometimes. And I thought it was just me.
-if you are nervous, fiddle with your gloves (Anna Meares) or check out your helmet (Sunderland I think)
- even champions get boxed in (Perkins)

Excellent day out all round. Jet lagged Camilla managed to stay awake as well! top effort.

You have to look at the "equipment" so to speak. It's not all about the racing.

And the fact that just about everyone had the same bike, we definitely had to look at other things.

We also all want to be kiwis now, they have much better kit than anyone else.

Yes BT seems to be th ebike of choice. When I got home today, the computer was on an ebay page that had a BT Stealth track bike in Stuarts size? No STUART - you said you only wanted to buy a $600 bike!! Dream on baby - I'll be getting a BT before you will, and I can't see that happening any time soon.

Yes - I like the black kit too. Reduces the visual appearance of your under carriage.

I want it to be known that I, for one, do not want to be a kiwi, no matter how black their kit is. I quite liked the Aussie kit, although white is not the best colour for knicks.

And as for 'undercarriage', I think that might be a polite way to say 'she's got a huge ass and massive thighs'!
