Great, looking forward to the 40K run and not to mention the sleepover club. Havent been to one since the mid 70s!

Who'd like to venture to identify those famous gentlemen in the pic? I think I know all of them but the guy in the Molteni jersey. Could it be Jan?

The business of a bike for Adam.....well, I have an early 80's 56 cm C to C orange Malvern Star that's in good nick and ready to ride. However, it IS a Melbourne bike. It is more tour oriented than race, but I can remove rack, guards and find some faster wheels for the TTT.

Or, Adam you could have it right now to ride and come to grips with friction shifters on the downtube.

Possibly someone else has something faster waiting in the wings for the actual Time Trial.

What's out there?

Saturday night Accommodation & Activities??
Accommodation is available at Culburra. It will probably be a BYO sleeping bag/camping mat job for a few, as I think there are beds for about 5. Just need to ensure there's SBS coverage for Saturday night.

I will be driving down Friday afternoon and have a few spare seats. Ride down or train is also possible.

I have a 55cm Clem Eagle (1950s) or a 57cm Omega (1980s). Both are Sydney-built. Both have some minor issues to be resolved, but should be solvable.

Hi all - sadly missed the beginning of this conversation, but better late than never. It would be good to get some time to ride something of that ilk to get to grips with the shifters. You know, given its all a bit of a stretch, I could very happily live with a Melbourne bike. I have a certain nervousness about "some minor issues to be resolved".

Yes, I must apologise Adam, I fear we have been talking about you, rather than to you.

If you fit a 57cm bike, the Omega is probably the go. Shimano 600 (Ultegra) hubs with Mavic 4CD rims. 23mm tyres, 8-speed, rolls well, good handling and good brakes. The issue is the crankset. One of the cranks is loose and I'm having difficulty removing the Zeus cranks (need a special spanner) to put another set on. I have Thursday and Friday off, and I expect to be able to sort it out then.

I'll be all anticipation.... It would be great to be able to get some time on Saturday perhaps to try to come to terms with a whole new world

Actually, not sure how well it will fit. Can you tell me what the standover is and what the top tube is. My bike is a top tube of 54.8 and a seat tube of 54.

It is 57 cm c-c for seat tube and top tube. The stem is 90mm. Standover is 82cm.

This is all hypothetical if I can't sort out the cranks.

82 is all good. I'll watch what happens to the hypothesis with interest :)
