Paul's Epic Adventure Ride South!
Hey folks
Paul & I have come up with a big circuitous 220km Adventure Ride South from Marrickville via Kangaroo Valley to Ablion Park on Sunday March 15th.
the route:
The route involves riding down to Waterfall then entering RNP, sticking to the coastal roads down through wollongong and to berry. The circuitous part involves the ascent of Mt Berry, through Kangaroo Valley up moss vale rd and then dropping down Macquaire pass to Albion Park to catch the train back into sydney. Its a full day of riding, an opportunity to push the body a little and see some different country. It will also be a no drop group with several coffee breaks in between.
route link - https://goo.gl/maps/nvYVy
perquisites:
- this ride is not for the faint hearted. although theres a large majority of flat road the last major hill has a 16% gradient at one point.
- must have completed at least several RNP rides.
- bring 2 bidons,2 tubes, food and cofy money on the day.
We'll be leaving Marrickville Post Office ( the usual club meeting spot ) Sunday March 15th 5:30am.
A final note ** this is not a club sanctioned ride **.
Any questions hit me up.

I think that is the way we used to go on the Johnny Warren ride but terminating at Jamberoo rather than going up:

After some consultation with the cycling elders, for saftey reasons we've changed the route. Its still challenging, is now 200km and avoids kiama downs completely. see below for new route and profile. Special thanks to Jo, Pete & Andrew for the insight and safety advice on the route.

The temp was 38deg and we ran out of water with a long way to go, so it was a ride of survival rather than performance.sweet mike. how did you find going up mac's?
As a climb its a great climb. Yes there is traffic but it didn't bother me
