Whether
you're after some bunch training, long tough racing on country roads, a
high-speed adrenaline-packed criterion, or just a nice relaxing ride with some
friends. Uphill, downhill, wind and rain; there's something for everyone out on
the road.
Our club
has a long tradition of road racing. We
race in opens (unrestricted entry for higher levels of competition) and at club
level, and try to get as many participants on the start line as possible. For
road opens we travel all round the state racing the complete Cycling NSW road
calendar. At a club level our main racing is at Heffron Park on Saturday
afternoons as part of Randwick Botany's club racing. This racing (normally) has
four grades from A to D (sometimes only A to C), catering for most levels of
participants.
Rider Safety:
You’ll need to wear an approved helmet on all rides, have functioning
lights for any pre-dawn starts (like in the colder months) and we ask
that riders NO
NOT use personal music players as they may limit your ability to hear
calls and
stay
safe in the bunch. You should also be familiar with bunch riding calls, procedures and techniques. Click the preceeding "stay safe" link for a rundown.
DHBC leaves in four bunches - be sure to arrive at least 5 mins before the departure time.

Note that the C-25 cruiser bunch will stick as close as possible to the advertised average over the length of the ride. Other bunches may vary depending on which riders turn up on the day. Click this link for a map of the route.
All four
bunches return to Marrickville Rd Cafe by approx. 9:40
for breakfast, coffee and a chat.
Note: Functioning front and rear lights, a helmet and no music player are compulsory for all riders.
Saturday Slowies:Meet at 6:25am for a 6:30am departure. For those who prefer
more of a social non-competitive focus, we run Saturday Slowies, an easy ride out to CentennialPark for an hour of whatever
you choose to do; be it laps, hills, intervals, or a cruise around while having a chat, all
at your own pace. Then leaving Centennial Park at approximately 8:00am to ride back to Marrickville, aiming for an 8:30ish return for coffee and a chat at the Marrickville Rd Cafe near cnr of Victoria rd and
Marrickville rd. This ride is at a very user-friendly pace and caters for anyone who owns a road, mountain, hybrid
or other bike.
Fixies: For those who love tradition, a number of riders choose fixed gear bikes. Fixies are
well supported within our club, and are a great way to gain some extra fitness.
