Joining Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club So you'd like to join DHBC - great news - here's how: For those who are fairly new to riding, we promote a 'try before you buy' (at your own risk) policy for your first two or three road rides. After that we do insist you make a choice of joining the club by buying a Cycling Australia (CA) membership which includes club membership, or not continue riding with the club. Its very important for insurance, for complying with rules (including UCI and State and Australian Laws) and for organisational purposes that people join if they enjoy riding with DHBC. Plus if you like the club, why not join up? Track riding note: You must have at least a 'Silver Ride' membership to do any form of track riding with DHBC. Three easy steps to membership:
Joining DHBC gives you membership to two organisations:
What sort of licence do I need? If you want to race on the road, track or mountain biking (including track omniums and the club crit series) you need a Gold Racing licence. Please click this link for full details on membership categories. Age categories are dependant on what age you turn in the current calendar year. A guide to Age Categories for 2012 is here. Membership costs for 2012 Silver Ride Membership: A Silver Ride membership is a great way to get started. You can upgrade to a race membership on a pro-rata basis during the year.
Ride Adult (19+) - $77.00 Ride Junior (U19) - $66.00 Ride Kids (U13) - $16.00 Ride Senior (65+) - $66.00 Gold Racing Membership: Elite (23-29) - $286.00 Masters 8-10 - $132.00 * Under 23 (19-22) - $286.00 Junior U19 - $220 Junior U15 to U17 - $132 Junior U9 to U13 - $66.00 * Masters aged 30 and above can choose either a Masters or Elite Membership
Expiry & Renewal Silver Ride memberships are now valid year to year (by quarter) from the time you join DHBC i.e. they don't all expire on 31st Dec every year like race licences. For example if you join in Q1 (Jan-March) your membership won't expire till the end of March the following year.
Gold Race memberships expire on 31st Dec every year. Note if you join in Q3 you pay a half year rate and if you join in Q4 you get 15 months membership for the price of 12. Simple huh!
Payments: Our preferred method to join DHBC is to Join Cycling Australia on-line using a credit card (click the link). This includes your yearly DHBC membership and does not include any additional payments over and above the standard fee recommended by Cycling Australia. If you do not have a credit card then you can download a printable form (PDF), fill it in and post with your cheque to: DHBC Secretary 13 Denison Rd Lewisham NSW 2049 Alternatively you can hand the completed form to a club official at a DHBC event with cheque or cash. If you don't have access to a printer, please contact the club secretary using the link on the home page and ask for a form to be posted to you. Family Memberships: A family membership discount is available for:
with the same surname and address and in the same category (i.e. 4 x race or 4 x ride) Please note the family membership option is not yet available on line. Please contact the CA membership team to apply for a family package.
