The decision between carbon and titanium is easy. Do you want a bike that will last 10+ years or 3 - 5 years (or less if you crash it). A good carbon frame is going to be stiffer and lighter the titanium, but a good carbon frame will cost more then $1200.

Re: Cruiser 28's seem more like the Middies?

I'll admit that I've been a bit slack in the role of coaching coordinator of late. As Stuart has mentioned, most previous attempts to fix these problems have failed. The splitting of the cruisers bunch was Lindsay's idea, and that did work initially. I have avoided rostering the coaches as they don'...

Re: Cruiser 28's seem more like the Middies?

A comment was made to me about this last night. It seems that there are a lot of middies that now choose to ride with the C28's. I have no idea why this is. Can anyone enlighten me? If the C28's are now averaging around 31kms then the people who are pushing the pace NEED to move up to the middies ot...

From memory the brewery doesn't open till midday. This shouldn't be a problem for those of us doing the full distance as its about half way. I think I'm going to be on the brakes coming down Macquarie pass, its almost 10 kms long.

Re: Bottom Bracket Adjustment

Depending on the BB, here I'm guessing its the standard shimano type or similar. The solution is to get a BB spacer and put it under the drive side. As the non-drive side does not have a flange you can just wind the locking sleeve in a bit further.

Re: Mechanical advice - Fulcrum Racing 1 Rim Wear

I just did a quick search and you can buy the rims. It should be a lot cheaper then a new wheel as they have some pretty expensive spokes in them don't they. As for how worn they can be, that depends on the thickness of the rim. If they are noticeably concave then I'd say its time to replace them.

Its an out and back course for you G. And I agree that it is a harder course then the one from last year, for you anyway. I only have to ride the more down hill half, it pays to have a masters license sometimes.

Re: Nonbikerelated talking thread. (nsfw)

There was someone with a penny very similar to that one down in Evandale. It had a free wheel, thus the need for brakes. And its a bikini not a smugglette, you'll find the bikini predates the whole branding you love by a long time G.

I'm pretty sure that Joshua Lester will be getting re-handicapped. He was my nemesis at RAW last year, which would mean he should have been closer to my handicap then he was.

Re: 9 Speed STI levers wanted

The problem with old 9 speed Ultegra levers is they get the Ultegra death. They start to rattle and there is nothing you can do about it. No Shimano lever can be repaired. The only thing you can do is flush the crap out out them with something like Inox. I'm sure a similar thing happens to 105 lever...

"The DHBC triple D's" mens three have been entered, John, Anthony and myself. This is one of those events you look forward too, mildly hate whilst you're doing it (if you get the bad lap, 3am) but are keen for the next one about two hours after its finished.

Re: I need some techie advice on shimano cassettes

You don't even need to use Shimano parts, SRAM cassettes have the same spacing so are interchangeable. I'd check the price on the SRAM PG1070 as well. As for chains, you can use SRAM, Shimano, or any number of others. I've been using a YBN SFL101-DHA on my road bike and its been pretty bullet proof ...

The results are up. The Masters mens team did much better this year then last year, we came 29th out of 38 teams that finished. This isn't bad due to Mike and myself both being ill and Craig just not having a great day. The Dawdlers came in 38th, which is last, but wasn't this the aim. The Elite tea...
