Re: Audax Mudgee April 30th 2011

The late entry of Trevor Hambley gave us a DHBC contingent of four for the Mudgee Audax ride. One of the very best things about this ride was that the weather was perfect, if a little on the windy side. Just the right temperature and partly cloudy but with plenty of sunny patches. Re: Entries just opened for the Audax Alpine Classic

Hi Eleri, Pia and I will be down Sat arvo. Pia's got a volunteers meeting at 2pm. We're in the caravan park. It would be good to catch up with the DHBC crew on Sat night as we'll be rushing back straight after. That's a short trip! Let us know when you are here, we'll just be hanging around and hav...

Re: Entries just opened for the Audax Alpine Classic

Adrian - let us know when you arrive! We went on easy rides yesterday, except Richard and Simone who did Falls Creek. Top effort! There's 2 choices of rides here - flat rides and mountain rides and not much in between. Weather perfect but deteriorating slightly towards the weekend which is a little ...

Re: Entries just opened for the Audax Alpine Classic

There's a fine contingent of DHBC riders at Bright, all settled in. It's great weather here - cool nights and sunny days, not too hot but warming up for Sunday. Yesterday, Mark, Amy, Jo, Camilla and I climbed Tawonga Gap, went on to Falls Creek and back over Tawonga again before heading back to Brigh...

I saw Lizanne this morning on Bourke St Waterloo. She chased down a mountain bike and then dragged him off at the lights. She won.

I was driving my car so she didn't see me.

I'm still thinking it's a 6am start and that, as no-one is actually organising it, that people will turn up, or they won't. Unless it's actually raining in the morning, I'm planning to go. The weather report seems to be slightly better than it looked a couple of days ago or even this morning. Annoyi...

Re: Another anti cyclist rant, but by whom?!

I'm not surprised to read an anti-bike rant from a runner. For some reason there are quite a few cyclist haters in the running community. This can be seen on occasion on the coolrunning site. To be honest, I get a bit irritated by intimidating speeding cyclists in lane cove nat park during lunchtim...

Re: Another anti cyclist rant, but by whom?!

Maybe we should ask the author if he is still running past the age of 50. That is a big uptake area for cycling, runners who have done their knees.

The author is a woman, Annabel Hepworth. Don't know how old she is. I'm still running and nothing wrong with my knees :)

I'll be leaving from MM at 6:00 I'd say as I need to ride slower than 28kph avg. Like at about 23 avg to save my legs. So if anybody else slow wants to ride to the start then is that an OK time? If no other slow riders, I'll get the train from Sydenham to Loftus at 6:15 arriving at 6:53 :D I'll rid...

It's about 28kms from MM to Loftus and therefore takes 1 hour to get there according to the last trip I did anyway. Presumably we want to get there a bit before the start?

[quote="Camilla"]What was the total climb you guys recorded, EMT & Trouty? I think there's something a bit peculiar about my new Garmin. The elevation readings seem fine, but I get what I suspect are high gradients. At the end of the day it told me we'd climbed a bit over 2100m and des...

Re: Mon 3rd: Drive, Ride, Eat, Swim

It was a good day out, thanks for organising Stuart. Cool conditions made it quite pleasant for riding. The rain masqueraded as high humidity and we didn't really get rained on properly which was good. Unexpectedly saw Victoria on the way back from West Head. We got more than enough hills in, I was ...

It was all his own work and a nice ride with Stuart sitting well placed throughout the race. Some dodg...
