Staminade contains Mg. Powder tubs are available through the supermarket.

Otherwise hydration as you said, and then there's sudden training overload, pre and post exercise stretching. If things still don't turn, then you should have your electrolyte checked out by your doctor.

But the side wall of GP4000 would easily last more than 2 years if it doesn't get scuffed, as on the track. Plain riding won't damage the side wall.

The higher TPI supposedly provide better handling. IIRC, GP4000S has a similar count as Vittoria's Open Corsa Cx. Obviously it's more expensive too.

Just dawned on me. We can ride back from the Gong and be just in time to get a feed at Tempe velodrome. Maybe we can even sneak in for a ride on the track before the fixie folks arrive.

Another issue apart from wheel size when comparing gearing on different bikes is crank length. I tend to think that Sheldon Brown might have it right with his "Gain Ratio" method. I recently changed from 170 to 175 cranks on the fixie and it made a noticable difference. Very interesting. ...

So maybe the best way to go is with the majority and talk chainring/cog rather than in inches.... The problem with just the cogs is that it goes back to the days before gear inch calculation, in that you can't easily compare the various combinations. Along the same line, it doesn't give a clear pic...

I'll talk to Grant next time and see how I can help. The jersey is our billboard and new members will come. Nicer the jersey, the better the exposure. Thanks for the offer of loan jersey but will see what happens come ride time. I'll need a S size though... A flapping jersey would probably be counte...

However if you arrive at 6:15am then you will be at the back of a large group leaving at that time and for the first few K, you are limited to one lane, so overtaking is rather difficult. Better to be there early and get to start at the front. Hehe, given the standard of those in the early group, I...

Thanks Geoff for filling in. It's always good to spread the words and communicate these difficulties, a helper might just show up.

I'd happy to assist with managing the jerseys.

Forget about their start time. I'd say just show up early (6am). The later we leave, the more likely we'll get hit by the southerly.

MS Gong Ride... Team DHBC

The MS Gong ride this year will be on Sun 4th of Nov with an unfortunate clash to the Fixie Century. Right now, we have a registered DHBC team in place with 6 riders on the roster. So whoever isn't in the fixie brigade should seriously consider riding the Gong, it'll only be just over half the dista...

Yes, I can see what you are saying too. Given the differential b/n 27" and 700c is just under 3%, it's just convenient to not bother with relearning the gear inch chart. Further, given the numbers are typically not compared with other styles of bikes or used with riders' power data, there's no ...

It's been brought to my attention that the route includes razorback mountain, perhaps 48-17 may be too high, even for a Mike the masher
Repeat after me... You are not a masher. :P

see this issue is problematic because even though our gearing is wrong,it is what everybody in Sydney uses. So if you rock up to the track stating 700cc gears no one will understand what your on about. So it may be wrong but it's universal & it's trackie language... Gear inches is defined mathe...

Hey Mike your gearing is 2 inches off. here's the chart..
http://dhbc.org.au/index.php?pr=track5
Guess this chart should be updated for current 700c wheels, or at least an explanation made that this table is based on old styled 27" wheelset standard.

Yeh for some reason sheldon is off. I don't know why but if you ask anyone at the track what 48/14 is they will tell you 92 inch. & same with the charts Terry gives out at Rocky point rd & Al as well. I'm no mathematician so I can't tell you why sheldon is different but he is, Lindsay has h...

Its because sheldon brown's calculator defaults to a 27 inch wheel
If you select 700x23, it'll still give you 90 inches for 48/14.

Potentially available to assist.

Simon, more information on the exact time required. 5pm start but when do the helpers need to be there and until what time? Most of the positions appeared to require some experience.

"You boys are soft nowadays, way back in 2007 my first ever fixie ride was 160k, now where did I put my walking frame"
How many inches is that walking frame?
