Yes, a 36 on the front does trade off some at the low end. You need to consider the gap between the chainrings. However, (and this is hear say) but I have heard that they have a very high rate of return for warranty, usually because of the frame cracking.

As a second hand frame, you wouldn't have any warranty, so if it does break, you aren't covered and the loss is yours.
