You can get them a bit cheaper from overseas, but the place i got them from doesn't have them anymore.

I'll be back at the track again once Uni has restarted, just don't see myself ever having time to get to Dunc Gray on a friday.

looks horrible!!! Firstly the seat is so high you're using a wheel a lot smaller than you could be otherwise. Also any brake on the front wheel doesn't inspire confidence for safety, especially something as powerful as a disc brake, considering you can do a header with a spoon brake. Pneumatic tyres...

It depends how much you lower your bars. Any change in position will require time for your body to adapt as well, but i think on the road you have to consider a certain amount of comfort is required, especially when riding 4-5hrs+. You can save more energy with good positioning in a bunch rather tha...

I think Kloden will be stuck supporting Vinokourov, but i guess with Savoldelli and Kashechkin they could go in with a dual pronged attack. Much harder to predict than last year, and last year decided to throw in a few surprises anyway, so i guess we just have to wait and see.

Tips for the tour

Lets here you're tips for the tour. I believe it'll be much more interesting than last year, with more competition for GC. Both Vinokourov and Valverde have strong teams behind them, and Leipheimer has a reasonably strong team too. Then there are the other contenders, Menchov, Evans, Rogers, Sastre,...

Just remember, lowering your handlebars may not be comfortable on longer rides, and may reduce your power output, in which case, although you require less power to go the same speed, you are producing less power, which defeats the purpose. It's always a compromise. I'd say good tyres are probably th...

I guess the decision needs to be made as to who has the biggest tv available for watching. If i was home i'd say come over, but maybe later in the race for one of the mountain stages, i'll see which one is most suitable.

Seems to be $65 per person in the team, so a bit too expensive in my opinion. Most entry fees for cycling opens are between $25 and $40, unless it's a big race like Grafton ($120). Tamworth tour is $80, but that's basically 3 races, and Coonabarabran to Gunnedah was $65, but that included dinner. Vi...

At a guess, i'd say a day licence is a 1 race licence for people that don't have a full racing licence.

Hopefully i'll get down there one day, but it's looking unlikely as my only times for work are friday, saturday and sunday when i've got uni on.

Kurrajong is an option, though you have to be able to get up the first hill. It can be tough depending on the bunch speed, and comes only 2km after the start, plus it's 2 laps. If you can't get up the hill with the bunch it's a bit of a waste though.

Just about every race is noob friendly. It took me a lot of racing before i finished in the lead bunch in a handicap. I'll try and think of a good race for you, the best one coming up is probably Tamworth Tour, or Cootamundra, or you could do one of the criteriums coming later in the year.

Sunday - Gunnedah to Tamworth - 110km Graded Scratch race Today the good weather was out, though there was still a chill in the air and a bit of wind. Eugen raced in Div3, Me and Kieran in Div5, and Grant in Div6. Eugen once again rode strongly to finish in the bunch. Grant had a tough ride with som...

Check out pics from the American handbuilt bicycle show, there're some nice tricks there, just search cyclingnews. As for the shifters, i haven't had to use downtubes, so that would decide for me, plus the integrated shifters are easier to use. For a retro build i reckon the whole build needs to be ...

Well, heffron park C graders would be in div5 or div6. Not sure what my current open grading is, think i was E grade last time i saw. As for Eugen, he's a strong rider, you don't ride around australia if you're not strong, well not in 56days at least.

Well, the grading is out for Sundays race.

Eugen will be in Div3. Me and Kieran are in Div5. And Grant is in Div6.

Hopefully we can pull off a result of some sort somewhere, though this lack of riding due to the rain and exams (for me) probably hasn't helped too much.
