Mike, do you mean Duffy's Forest, or French's Forest? Duffy's Forest seems to be a long way from where you are. As far as refill locations go, there are probably several Service Stations along the route, just try and find one along Pittwater Rd at Narrabeen before turning on to the Wakehurst Pkwy, a...

I was thinking on the way into work this morning. Strange I know, but occasionally a few neurons do fire in my skull. One of the women on the Territory Tour did an extra couple of k's one day to break 200km in one day, I commented to her that despite the large number of hard core riders, not that ma...

Mike What I am questioning, is you state that the bike must be ridden on between flats. So, if I put in a dodgy tube, that can hold air for a short distance, then I am eligible for another point, as long as I can throw a leg over the bike, even if I only get one or two pedal strokes in. That is why ...

as far as a heavier rider moving through the wind better, that is probably because of momentum p=mv momentum = mass x velocity once you are moving, it is harder to stop. You need to remember, that Galileo, who proved that weight makes no difference is refering to a vacuum. I had to sit down and work this out, I didn't believe it at first. Mona Vale Rd - Accident this morning
First up, I didn't witness the accident, I was on the scene soon after it happened, and I spoke to the driver. I rode with Bike Bug this morning, they do a run from North Sydney, through the Spit Bridge, and then up Pittwater Rd to Church Point, up McCarrs Creek Rd, and then back along Mona Vale Rd ...

Re: comparsion of hills
this sounds interesting ......how do the hills compare to the waterfall in audley out RNP route?? Interesting question, has anyone ridden out to Bundeena? Looking at the profile that was generated by Map My Ride, the biggest hill is Artillery Hill. This is relatively short, but it is pretty steep, ...

KOM is basically hill repeats in the Balmoral area, all of the hills are relatively short, usually under a kilometre, however, they are quiet steep. In the B Group, you won't go up Awaba St, which has an average 15% gradient to the roundabout, and an average of 12% to the very top. I have hit over 7...

I mapped out an Oak Flats Return this morning. http://www.mapmyride.com/route/au/marrickville/521124139036843967 Again, I did an out and back so the return route isn't exactly right, but close enough. It is about 100km as well (a few under if anything). Looking at the two side by side, the Oak Flats...

Because of the road works, this ride may be in doubt. I was talking to Michael about it this morning at the Cafe, and an option that we came up with was to Ride to Waterfall. Descend and climb to Garie Beach turnoff, and then turn around and back to Waterfall. It would be possible for some riders to...

In Australia, we don't have a tipping culture, their staff would be paid the minimum wage at least. As it is a Sunday, they would be paid something like 1.5 their standard wage anyway. Here, I feel that we should only tip if you feel that the service/food was good enough to deserve a tip. Personally...

Small turn out this morning, just Julian, Geoff and myself. As it turned out, the finish on the road works have been delayed by a fortnight, and they aren't expected to be finished until 15th May. When I saw the sign near the Audley Entrance, we had a quick meeting and a new route was planned and de...

Getting on to the Eastern Footpath of the Gladesville Bridge is an interesting exercise. I typically don't do it, so this is from the memory of when I have done it about 2 twice. As you cross the bridge before Gladesville Bridge, take the exit to the left, as if you are going to end up on Victoria R...

I thought that I had finished my patching last night, but while I was folding up one of my patched tubes (the one that I pinch flatted on my ride to Wollongong on Easter Sunday), I found two more holes. Another Pinch Flat. How's that for effort? A Double Pinch Flat (4 holes) in a single tube, no won...

Pinarello's are nice bikes, however, they are very expensive in Australia. I am not sure that they are good value for money here. If you are going overseas (i.e. Europe), then you can often get a complete Pinarello for about 1/2 price compared to the cost in Australia. This is assuming you can then ...

B Group won't drop you, they typically cruise at about 25-26km/hr (maybe a bit faster), just try and sit in the middle of the bunch, find out who the ride leaders are at the start and ride near them. They will be a bit more supportive if you get into trouble. There is only one climb of note on the B...

Tim There are three groups that leave from Renegade, the A group average about 28km/hr+ over about 75-85km, the B Group average about 25km/hr over about 60-70km, and the C Group average about 20km/hr over about 40-50km. I rode in the opposite direction this morning, I checked out the road, and while there were unpaved sections, they were all hard packed dirt, so it was actually as smooth or smoother than the asphalt. There was a downhill section where I was comfortably over 40km/hr with no issues on the road surfac...
