Spotted Toff today climbing the Pacific Highway in North Sydney while wearing a rather fetching pink jersey. Didn't shout as I was standing among a bunch of fellow pedestrians who would have been startled. And Toff didn't look like he needed any more distractions.

I drove the unsealed bits into Nerriga a while back and it's very remote up there - not a farm gate in sight and only a sleepy service station in Nerriga. The dirt road was very narrow and windy in some spots, open and safe in others. I'd be bringing LOTS of water. Have fun you crazy kids ;-)

Yeah well The Difference Engine was co-authored.
Just don't tell me you saw Johnny Mnemonic ...

Bike/SciFi - double geek out

Any William Gibson fans out there?
His new novel, Zero History, mentions this british bike brand: Hetchins, apparently famous for curvy and curly stays.

Pretty sure I saw AnthonyI crossing the highway out back of Strathfield with his boy, as I and my dad were heading home. Anyone know a friendly bike shop proprietor?

I'm a journo and am writing a story about businesses with big seasonal fluctuations, and thought a bike shop would be ideal to talk about the pre-winter arm warmer blitz, kids bikes at Christmas and other seasonal phenomena.
Anyone know a friendly bike store person they could put me in touch with?

Anyone doing the Spring Cycle this year? I've signed up to do it with my 70 yo dad, who gets from Rose Bay to La Perouse and home in about 70 minutes (38 kms).
I'll be heading to the start at around 6:30 AM if anyone wants a riding buddy.

About 75-80kms if you take the train at Glenfield, which will take you to Wolli Creek. 100-1-5 otherwise.

The more I look at this, the more I think this story is a colossal beat up. Let's say the drive shaft on the motor is 1cm wide. How much torque could be imparted to the bottom bracket?
