The handicapping is done by cycling NSW based on your state road handicap. If you don't have one then they ask the club handicapper, in our case that is James.

I'm thinking of coming now and just dealing with the expense later. I always have a good time in tassie. Flights seem to still be available. I may even make scones.

I was getting forum withdrawals, both my works external IP address and vodafails proxy address were blocked, at least the work one is now working.

Stuart is onto the Vodafail problem for anyone else affected by this, it'll also stop tapatalk working, well I think that's the problem.

That's bike related, and it stands for cruisers. That came about because they didn't like being referred to as slowies.

I just don't know if I can be bothered this year, even with Huw missing I'm still not going to win the Penny nationals, and with James going and me getting handicapped differently this year I can't win the road race either. Not that its all about winning.

Clothing is here

The new batch of clothing has arrived. If you pre-ordered anything you can get it by coming down to the track on Monday and Wednesday nights as this is where the stock is going to be kept.

If you cannot make it to the track any time soon let me know and I'll see if I can get it too you another way.

Re: Tassie Sojourn

That depends on how fast you want to go. The DHBC method of touring is not quite normal. When I speak to other people that tour they say a long day is 100km, where we seem to consider a long day to be 160+km. If you want an easy pace I'd keep the days under 120km. I'm up for the hard west coast vers...

This year the century ride is on Thursday the 10th, the road race is on Friday the 18th and the fair/nationals is on the 19th. Its a bit annoying since if you want to rode the century you'll have to go down on the Wednesday and if people can't get down there on the Thursday the tour will have to sta...

There is a 90km race down in Nowra on the 12th of December. For once there is an enduro with a nice entry free, $15. Anyone intertested, I know its a bit close.

For the first week it will be 6.30. With one minute gaps that means the last bunch will leave at approximately 6.34. I know this will be met with opposition. If everyone is there we will be able to send of the first bunch a few minutes early. To make it any earlier we would have to be able to inform...

Re: Dirtworks 100km

You don't get to ride the canoe bridge on the 50km version, so you have no chance at all of falling in the river in May. These events always sell out pretty fast, if you really want to do the 100km then start looking about 2 weeks out for people selling their entries.

I've raced the 6+6 before as a pair, it was lots of fun and you get to sit on the side of the track and drink beer as all those doing the full 24 hours suffer. I'm likely to be riding this one, all 24 hours of it but whether that solo or not is yet to be decided.

Dirtworks 100km

Just a reminder that entries for the Dirtworks opens tomorrow. This one fills up fast as they only allow 750 entries for the 100km race. Not sure how many they allow in the 50km race but it doesn't fill up as fast. The race isn't until the 1st of May 2011, I'd expect it to be full by the weekend.

The position of the H and L screws are very frame dependent in my experience. If the screw hasn't fallen out then its not out too far. It will probably stop doing anything useful a few turns before it falls out anyway.

I have an old stem that I and everyone else uses to cut steer tubes, you can borrow it if you want. If you are going to do a test cut, buy two hacksaw blades, they don't last long cutting carbon.

The never-seez is used on bolts it has nickel and graphite in it, it just stops them getting stuck through corrosion. The carbon assembly compound it to stop the parts slipping, which can be a problem with seat posts, just ask Alex, he resorted to super glue, I've used hair spray. The new bike has a...

I use never-seez on parts I know have a tendency to bind, or any bolt that is going into an insert in carbon. It should stop the dissimilar metal corrosion which is why some bolts are hard to get out. Its what we use on underwater enclosures and thats a much tougher environment than a bike. Also if ...

Given everyones feedback I beleive it will be best to still start as four distinct bunches. The gap ...

I'm of the opinion that you should never sit on the front the entire way, others need to get time on the front to develop the skills needed to ride in a faster bunch where you are expected to have the requires skills not just the power. The exception here is people like Lindsay, who sit on the front...

You all have some good points. There was some consultation, maybe not enough with the slower bunch leaders. It was discussed by the commitee, el Presidente and Lindsay both agreed to the scheme. Do you know what it was worth new? I'd be asking why the fork was changed, the slice forks were pretty good, maybe it was crashed bad enough to crack the fork. Sunday Waterfall bunch ride

It has been decided to change the way we run the Sunday bunch ride to Waterfall. The problem with the current arrangement is that the slowest bunch leaves first, so if someone was to get dropped by a later bunch, the only bunch coming up behind them is faster the the one they got ejected from. To re...
