Hi everyone,

What an eventful training session! Seamus and Hugo T both took a fall, the lead in the points series changed and Alexander finally got the correct gearing ratio on his bike!.

Injuries
Seamus got back on to ride after taking a spell, although his new longs and front wheel need major surgery. I hope you're not feeling too sore today Seamus. Hugo ended up having several doctors check his bonce, and I'm happy to say it is intact, as is his humour gland. These incidents do show though that accidents can and will happen, and why protective clothing and equipment is SO important. Hugo's helmet is cracked though at the point where his head hit the track - there is no doubt it saved him from a serious injury. Thanks to Chris Venville for helping Hugo T from the track and putting his (bike) headset to rights, and to all the other parents who showed concern.

Equipment
Craig Weller is doing a great job getting our loan bike riders set up better. Alexander is now pushing the correct gears and it showed immediately in his performance. We will need a few more components to get Tom Bolton and Seamus set up properly, but we're working on it. Don't forget to keep a look out for a good second hand or well priced new bike if you're thinking of making a fuller committment - that way you can set it up for optimum performance. Ask around you might be surprised how many are hanging in garages not being used.

Point Score
Congratulations to Tom Bolton who took out the second cumulative point score race of the season. What a great effort from one of our newest riders. :D Big thanks to Chris and Phil for a great job with the handicapping and to the handlers for making it all possible. Hugo Venville and U11 State Rider of the year Thomas Cornish are neck and neck on 9-points, followed closely by Bill Bolton and Chris Kesoglou on 7. Remember you get a point just attending training even if you have to sit out the race because you're injured.

Team Time Trial
DHBC Juniors Riders U15 and over are meeting for the first of their fortnightly team time trial training sessions at the track on Monday the 7th of June, weather permitting. Juniors Club Captain, Hugo Venville has organised with club champs to help the team develop the speed and skills they need to enter the State Titles at the end of the year. Come along if you want to be part of it.

That's all for now,
See you next week,
Michelle Brown
