Well it is back!! The 81 inch omnium returns....

All competitors are not permitted to ride a gear other than a 48 chain ring with a 16 rear cog (80 inches) without the permission of the race organisers, which will be allowed in the circumstances that you want to challenge yourself on a smaller gear, your chain is either too short or too long to permit this gear or you do not own this combination and posess another similar geared combination. If you need help acquiring a 16 cog or are dead broke and need support buying a cog let me know before the day & I will help out & we will also try and have a few spares available. Also support will be available to help change gears before the racing if needed.

Where: Tempe velodrome
When: Saturday the 16th of July
What time: Racing will start at 4pm, gates will probably open about an hour earlier.
Who can come: Racing is designed and sanctioned for everyone in the club with a racing licence.
Races: flying 200, graded scratch race (with begginners grade), individual pursuit, points race and either a kilo or madison (hopefully mixed)!!!!

& yes we will have the famous boxing day BBQ!!!

SO come along have a feed and enjoy some racing....

How do you feel about 82.8? Failing that I can do 75.6. My new track bike comes complete with kiddie gears!

In fact the 46 I've been lent until my new ones come from the shop. The 42 was deemed too pathetic even for me. It shall be donated to Lindsay & Michelle's juniors gear drive in the very near future.

I might come and watch as I have no idea on bike gearings and it will be a good chance to learn! Anyone know what gear the pink bike carries?

hmmnn.. I would say your going to have to go 76 Camilla... Lol im sure we dont care that accurately!
This brings back memories of the Campy training wheel with the record hub that I wrote off putting a cog on for this event!

mmm, the fixie has 81" on it, do I remove the ring/cog off it and put it on the track bike, or remove the brakes and move the handlebars from the track bike to the fixie

Don't just watch Jo! Do! depending on your bike's bcd I might be able to get you close to 81. We'll check it out on Friday night.

No good for me - I don't know the secret handshake. But on a brighter and not disimilar note, I have found one I have from Jim Bundy's shed.

I definitely didn't win anything but aggressive/insane rider points on the day. So the scratch race & sprint 1st places weren't me gov.

I'm pretty sure I didn't place in anything at all. Maybe the points are lowest for a win.

Haha - I don't think anyone's too worried, no sheep stations at stake (except Camilla's of course). Thanks to everyone for a fun day at the races and a very pleasant barbecue.

B grade scratch
1 Lizanne 2 Andrew 3 Eleri 4 Tom 5 simon B
Hmm. I'm fairly sure I was in that race too! Don't remember what I came though. 3rd? 4th? Andrew pulled a swifty at lap 6, I remember that!

Not to bother - I'm just happy you put any results up at all Tim! And I've never had the slightest idea how an omnium is scored anyway. Losing points for winning? I don't get it. Must look into it one day. All I know for sure is that I was DQ'ed because I didn't do the last sprint.

A fun evening! Must remember to change my gear back before Friday.
