Hi everyone,

What an impressive turn out for Wednesday training, with 16 juniors taking part including three friends from Saint George Club, Bede Kelly from Southern Cross and one adult ring-in, the indefatigably cheerful... Lizanne. There was a bit of excitement for a couple of reasons. We had a visit from high performance coach (and masters track champ.) David Willmott, who was talent scouting for sprinters and helping with training tips in general. A big virtual gold medal :D to David for taking the time with the junior riders (he can add that to the three medals he just brought home from the world masters titles). We also had the first of our "novelty" races involving four adults sprinting (on foot) to get the riders bikes for centre field and back to their riders for a two lap sprint. Congratulations to Alison Wallace who won the challenge and I hope all the runners pulled up O.K. the next day!

The extra attention from David certainly brought out some good performances. Firsts also went to Keanu Bluden in the Miss & Out, closely followed by Selina. Best Flying 200 times to Bede in U21 with 13.75, Chris Hageman in U17 with 13.35, closley followed by Wesley Ho with 13.56. and Tom Bolton U15 with 14.53. Tess Wallace took out both the Handicap Sprints. Keanu finished well ahead in his sprint race and Chris Hageman took the 10 lapper from Bill Bolton. Selina, Daniel Gandy, Keanu and Denali, all put in impressive work rates behind Phil Kelly on the motobrike to end the session. Zeke worked hard all session too and got a 2nd and 3rd place as was evidenced by the rosy apples on his cheeks by the end of the night - nice to see his family along to watch too. Special mention to Alex Kapruziak who's really putting in the hard yards at training and is a hairs breadth away from cracking 14 in the Flying 200m.

Gong Ride
Our St George friends, Selina Wesley and Morgan Ho are riding to the Gong this Sunday to raise money for MS research. It's not too late to sponsor them. If you'd like to - follow this link: http://register.gongride.org.au/2011-Sy ... -Ride/moho

Thankyous
Thanks to the Bludens for donating a spiffing new 15mm spanner for the juniors kit bag - it will be well used. Congratulations to Denali on his new track bike (new and improved Denali - now even faster!) Thanks to Lizanne - mechanic extrodinaire for taking on the jobs other people just won't do - and congratulations on her terrific lap time of 28.4 with a 125m split of 13.55. As always thanks to Phil (motorpace man) Kelly for coaching advice and assistance. Congratulations to James (records "R" us) Rogers for taking out a licence to race with DHBC.

Working B
We're probably going to have one soon to clean out and reorganise the shed, possibly before a Saturday DHBC omnium - I'll keep you posted and if you can help that'd be just dandy.

That's all for now,
till next time... keep on rolling
