Hi everybody,

we polished off the month of November in fine style, with the weather showing us mercy for most of the Wednesday training session at Tempe Velodrome. It was a relief after being rained off two Wednesdays in a row.

A big welcome to our newest member Patrick Stannard (U15) and his family (Dad Martin & baby-bro. Hugo). Patrick took to the track like a duck to water and will surely join in with the group training next week. Please help him with advice and make him feel welcome. A big happy birthday to Taku Rogers who's just turned 11. We are all jealous of your new Fuji track bike and your Birthday visit to the opening of the Harry Potter exhibition! A big shout out to Francis Teow from Taku, whose keen for you to return to training.

With a new member along, it was terrific to have James Rogers organising the training races and drills assisted by the riders' families. Well done you juniors for working on your pace-line technique. Scrath Race wins to Taku (now-even-faster) and Zeke. Mia pulled out the stops for two second places. Alison Wallace turned in the best 1 Lap Time Trial against her speedy sisters with 42.55 seconds, Tess just a whisker behind. Taku had the best time for the males with 38.34. Darani set her 1 Lap Time Trial bench mark at 48.94. :D

Everybody worked really hard in the heat and Taku was riding the rollers with his hand off the railing by the end of the sesssion. Our older more experienced riders put in some blistering laps behind the motorbike at the end of the session.

Thanks once again to Lizanne for help with mechanics. :P

Licences
Please check your licences to ensure they're up to date and renew them on-line if they aren't. Go to Cycling Australia: http://www.cycling.org.au/default.asp?P ... 0013/43895
You only need a "ride for all" licence to join in DHBC Juniors Training, you can pay the supplementary amount to upgrade later, if you want to begin racing.

Racing Opportunities
There are a number of races for junior riders coming up on the NSW racing calendar. Follow the link to find out more: http://www.nsw.cycling.org.au/cy_nsw/ca ... =2011/2011 Calendar.htm
If you search on the word "junior" you can jump to events quickly.

Hydration
With the weather so hot, it's really important to have sufficient water at training and drink small amounts frequently. Remember if you're already thirsty, you have drunk regularly enough!

Holiday Training
At this stage DHBC Juniors will train until the 14th of December and possibly the 21st of December if there's sufficient demand. Let me know your preferences.

Celebration
Sorry about the short notice for the DHBC XMas Party tonight. I've been a bit crook lately and had my eye off the ball. To make it up to you all, we will hold a BBQ celebration at the end of the track season in late February or early March to acknowledge your achievements.

That's all for now,
till next time - keep rolling,
