Calling all vets. Stu and I are racing Landsdowne this week with the Waratah's. Stu was hoping to get the E grade lead out team together for a DHBC win. I believe A & C grade start at 9am this week, and B, D, E, F start at 7.45am. This is to stop 2 of the similar grades (A&B) catching each other. Hopefully see some of you there.

I will see if I can ride this. Can someone post the location of Lansdowne Park, so I know where it is and what it looks like? If I go I will probably ride D grade, as I have no fitness.

Where were you Toff? Congratulations to Karzie who came out of now where. I think he was sitting around 10th at the final turn for the straight, I stupidly was at the front after my planned lead out man died. Anyway - as always the sprinters pounced in the last 200 metres and I just had to hang on. Karzie 1st, me 5th - but the finish was pretty close in the top bunch.

Onya Karzie - nice to see a red jersey get it. I would like to give a better description about how you won it Karzie, but I didn't really see anything given you came from behind me.

Thanks Trouty. The pace was pretty sweet right from the start, with Trouty leading out for the first lap. I did a bit of the second just to show the colours then sat in the middle of the bunch for most of the rest of the race. I thought I'd have a go for the middle sprint, but went more than a bit early and had to sit back and wait for the bunch as soon as I realised (didn't know the course well enough). Straight away I was surrounded by waratah jerseys who boxed me in until the top of the hill when they gave the nod to their designated man who took it out. I decided to sit in the first ten for the rest of the race so I had a chance later. Bell lap arrived and nobody seemed too fussed, so I stayed back a bit. Near the top of the hill I started moving up. Lots of positional shenanigans from Waratahs again, but to other people. I must've been 8th or so at the top of the hill. I moved right to the outside and wound it up. The guy who blocked me for the sprint tried to run me off the road, but I kept my line and he couldn't beat my acceleration. Bingo.

Thanks Ames. A $50 haul of loot!

They shouldn't have left it just lying around...

E Grade report: There were about 20 riders in E and we, as usual, rode around and around with no attacks to speak of and then at the end there was a sprint of sorts. Four of us pretty close at the line, I thought I had 2nd but got allocated 4th. All good! Had a fun time as usual and love the Landsdowne track. Also, they belled us at only 40 mins instead of 45 so it was a bit shorter than normal, although 1k faster than last time out.

Time: 00:44:38
Avg Speed: 32.8 km/h
Distance: 24.42 km
Elevation Gain: 203 m

Interestingly, Sat Slowies has more climbing if you do 4 hills! Elevation Gain: 326 m

Congrats to Ian on his win by at least a bike length and no surprise that you're straight up to C - never win first time out!

I never trusted those line judges. At the speeds bikes go, it's just about impossible to judge by eyes when more than 2 bikes are close. Set up your own camera person and put in a protest.... But then you'll get elevated to D.
