Getting an entry for this most sought out race is harder than buying a Lady Gaga ticket upon release.

Really good ride, under beautiful highland cliffs, beside paddocks, across horse poo, and along a road which is in a bit of need of resurfacing. Marvel at the ambulance stationed at the bottom of the steep hill on a curve just as you descend!

Seriously great ride, but you will have to be logging in at 9am sharp as it sells out within about 3 to 7 minutes!!!

102km! 4 laps!

I did have unfinished business with this ride after my effort last year. However that's another 16 or 17 additional kilometres that is liable to kill me. I was so deep into the red last year that I was seeing stars. Dammit, not happy Jan!

A really good race if you can get in. An extra lap means an extra time up that steep hill!

Hopefully there is another strong showing from DHBC.

Dunno, with jimmy whippet a non starter I may have to go it alone.... That's IF we are at the head of the race!!! With all those NRS fellows getting entry we could well be spat out the back by the 2nd lap :)

If I'm with you, I can power over say the first 1/4 of the hill and then hitch a ride in the ambo

I'm in too. Good luck everyone. I don't really fancy the extra lap but perhaps it will help spread things out. Last year was quite hectic on the run in.

Note there is a different start location for this Sunday see the Ken Dinnerval page on Illawarra Cycle Club

Got more and more excited as I went past handicap group on the list until I saw my name block 4. Its the names around you that tell you could be back a group.

Good luck to all!

DHBC Road Captain, James Fowler, is onto this. Liam, what start group do you think you should be in?

As amusing as it would be to see James Bernard time trial away for a 20min solo breakaway, we will get the handicaps sorted and get back to you with an update.

Hi Eleri,

Is it possible to change? I'm not as strong as Michael and would be a better fit in bunch 3 having going through the list. Its not a huge jump from my allocated group but I would struggle and drop early in 4.

Thanks

Liam

Whilst he's at it, perhaps he could have me started another 15 mins before everyone else. Seeing I did come last and all last year.

The race is quite different this year, we go up the big hill after only a few K's from the start, its important to get your bunch not to gun ho it up there on the first lap. "We are strong together, weak apart"

Think I'm the oldest DHBC rider?

Warm up becomes very important with THAT hill so soon in the race.

Bernard is the true 'sandbagger' from that list - back you go. :-)

For what it is worth, I've done two open road race and DNF'd in both....As far as a group, based on who is there, Group 2 seems a good fit.

Thanks for helping sort this out. Phil

Look, if we can get first and last I'll be happy. Dougie you might have to take one for the team.

Just heard the great news!

Congratulations Amy and James on the top result. Hope all of our riders survived the day, and look forward to some in depth race reports.

Well done at the Dinnerville!
