I have some Ay-Up lights from when I mountain biked regular and would like to use them on my road bike, but they are a constant light. What do people think about my buying the new Ay-up battery which has a flashing mode.
cheers
Jon.

I have Aw-Ups that flash. It's a bit annoying switching from steady to flash though. I think they are best for seeing in the dark. I have a small Knog that I use as a flashing light. If I was you, I would invest in a rechargeable flashing light rather than upgrade the battery.

I use a rechargeable Light and Motion. You can get them from Atelier de Velo and they have a rubber attachment making them easy to move from bike to bike. Steady and flashing mode easily interchangeable!

I have been using Ay-Ups for 3 years for mtn and road/commuting...same battery set. Pretty much every day. I also use them for camping (with white diffuser) and spotlighting.
For $66 the half epic battery is good value...seeing you have the lights anyway...

I am with Eleri. I find that the lights that are bright enough to see where you are going in the dark are too bright to use on flash in the dark. A bit epileptic.
At night I use a 600 lumen light to see where I am going and a 200 lumen flasher to be seen.
I the day I use the 600 lumen on flash to be seen.
