For April 26

As always, we need some volunteers to help out the smooth running of the Rookwood crits. With about 180 riders registered, and then adding associated spectators, families and other interested parties, it's going to be a great morning. The Rookwood Trust has been extremely helpful and working with us on traffic management and coffee.

The new course is safer, and the roads are better. We will need some course marshals for each race. This basically means you observe the race, make sure no-one tries to cross the road at an inappropriate time, and call-in any issues that might need medical or official/commissaire help. We'll have walkie talkies and there will be a briefing, so you know what you are doing! Course marshals do not need to be members of the club (you can rope in a friend or relative).

There will be a coffee cart!

You can course marshal and race (not at the same time). Race times are below. If you are in C or D grade you can course marshal during A and B, for example.

7:00 am C/D — 25 mins + 2 laps, inc. prime
7:45 am A/B — 35 mins + 2 laps inc. prime (A grade prime x 2)
8:30 am E/Ew — 20 mins + 1 lap inc. prime
9:00 am Family ride
Presentations TBA

You can course marshal more than one time period if you want to.

John Caley will be coordinating volunteers on the day.

People who have told me they will volunteer are: Donna Bolton, Adam Farrar, me and definitely some other people I have forgotten told me. Because I didn't write it down. However we still want you!

I will be available when I am not racing for whatever you need. I am in the C Grade race.

I am skilled at moving large sticks and I have previous experience observing races ( I just watched the Paris Roubaix on TV!). I have used a Walkie Talkie before and have my own call sign, namely "Trucker Bear". I believe I am a perfect fit for your organisation and I can start immediately.

I can be a marshal after my ride in group D. I also have my senior 1st aid but I'm sure that there are others far more qualified than me. Just let me know what you want, thnx. Taffy,

Volunteers for April 26

We will need some course marshals for each race. This basically means you observe the race, make sure no-one tries to cross the road at an inappropriate time, and call-in any issues that might need medical or official/commissaire help. We'll have walkie talkies and there will be a briefing, so you know what you are doing! Course marshals do not need to be members of the club (you can rope in a friend or relative).

There will be a coffee cart!

You can course marshal and race (not at the same time). Race times are below. If you are in C or D grade you can course marshal during A and B, for example.

7:00 am C/D — 25 mins + 2 laps, inc. prime

8:30 am E/Ew — 20 mins + 1 lap inc. prime

I think you might have accidentally dropped Douglas off the list, John. His stick identification skills should not be underestimated.

Also, I was hoping some of the setup people wouldn't mind doing a spot of marshalling as well?

I can help out at the start-finish line again as well as doing set up if you like James. I'm not racing so won't have to duck off at any point. And I'm pretty handy with a clip board.
