It's time to enter and let me know of your interest. Alan has said he'll be taking the van, so that's the transport of choice, as getting to the race will require leaving on the Friday (usually lunchtime).
The saturday race is a 111km handicap going from Coonabarabran to Gunnedah. The first half of the race is rolling hills, before it flattens out onto a nice flat road where you can really get the speed going. It is a very enjoyable race to ride and well worth the trip. The entry also includes dinner at the presentation.
The sunday race is a 105km(approx) graded scratch race, so there's a chance for everyone to win. The race is predominantly flat with a few minor hills, just make sure you save your energy by staying out of the wind, though hopefully there won't be any.
Let me know if you're coming along or need more convincing so accomodation can be booked.

There's always Friday night winter racing, the more the merrier.... We're looking for a high finish for the club this year...I'm not sure if i can get out of work, i'll try and find out for sure tomorrow, but i'll let Al know who's interested.
Adrian, Nick, and Eugen, i've let Alan know that you're going along, so he'll organise the accomodation this week. Unfortunately i have to miss this one due to work, but i've got Mudgee in my plans.

5 is a reasonable number, the best bit ofcourse is seeing different people heading out to the opens this year.
I mainly started the thread (as well as most Race threads i make) to let people know the race was coming up so arrangements could be made, otherwise it might have passed by unnoticed. I've got 5 more weekends i've booked my time off work for races, so hopefully we'll get some other people to join us.

enter the race ,william or you will stuggle to do mudgee races. ,i telling you with my humble past experience as a lower grade rider , more races the better just pace yourself. rgds nickbAlan said he has a driver.
I am in the race on the first day only.
The second day I might just ride the course from the rear.

well done william , you will feel stuffed like the rest of us on the way home that nite , good it will make you tougher , an seasoned roadie must do 2 days in the row when going to do opens.That should be Gunnedah to Tamworth.(not Grafton)

Its a little late (for this sleepy head) to give a full report of the weekends racing, but we all raced and got back safely.
The Sundowner Coonabarabran to Gunnedah Handicap was definately the most exciting race I'd ever done. I was in a really good group that working well and doing turns. We were caught 15km from the finish. We were leading most of the race and I had chance in both the KOM and spirit. Unfortunatley I got burnt in the KOM having attacked first only to be beaten by one guy on my wheel. Then I found out that what could have been $50 win turned into a $50 deficit as I was fined for allegedly crossing the middle of the road on the KOM (which I don't think I did and the guy who won was on my wheel!!!). Anyway, my bunch was caught by another two and we stayed together for a little while then were split on the last big hill. Then with 4km to go, Eugene's bunch caught our chasing bunch and took off through the town. They nearly caught the winning bunch but were 50m too late.
Today's Gunnedah to Tamworth was just what I hopped for in a recovery race. I was in the lowest grade and barely felt like I'd put in an effort all day. I was feeling good for a spirint but unfortunately bombed it as i had no idea where it was until it was too late (I was told they'd be a police car letting us know when we could take the whole road). I was the very back left-hand side of the bunch and barged my way through gravel along the side of the road and picked up 5th place. i ended winning $50 which paid for the previous days fine. Everyone thought this was hilarious. NickB also had a memorable race. i had no idea what happened to him until much later when I found out his seat clamp had snapped and his saddle fell off about 40km out of Gunnedah.

as mention before , i was racing and for once my motor was working well i just had a go in the front , went to sit down and felt that my ass was going lower that normal and in spilt second i lost my seat , after waving my thru the back of the bunch and puting myself to the side of the road and jumping off the bike , I finished in a vertical position and save the family jewels i was very happy with that out come . on the other note thanks to ebay i just won a new carbon seatpost 32.4 mm dia nearly same as the old one just for only $ 27.97 . ( new approx is $ 200.oo ). I will be riding in time for Mugdee open .
